Ashley laughed, “Yeah, well you didn’t seem to be complaining about that last night.” She pushed the hair out of her girlfriend’s face.

Spencer simply rolled her eyes, “Last night. Last night. Yeah, Ash, last night was amazing, but it’s in the past. There’s gonna be more last nights, so let’s look ahead, and shut up about last night.”

“Make me,” Ashley challenged.

“Fine, I will,” the blonde said as she pushed Ashley against the side of the pool and kissed her.

Wow, first kissing in the rain and now kissing in a pool. How very romantically cliché. You go, girl!

Both girls were lying down on deck chairs, basking in the afternoon California sun. Their clothes were almost dry. Note to self: no more diving into pools with normal clothes clothes on. They’re a bitch to dry.

Rob was busy attacking bugs in the bushes while the girls sat in a comfortable silence. Spencer was on her back staring towards the sky with closed eyes; Ashley was on her back with her head faced in Spencer’s direction, eyes also closed.

“Hey, Ash?” the blonde said breaking the silence.

Ashley opened one eye, “Yeah, Babe?”

“Well, you know the two weeks we get off school during the winter?”

“Yeah, in about a month, why?”

Spencer opened her eyes and turned her head to look at the other girl, “What are your plans?”

“Uhhh…” Ashley rolled onto her back and sat up crossing her legs, “Nothing really, why?”

Spencer sat up and furrowed her eyes at Ashley’s response, “You mean you don’t do anything for winter break? What about Christmas?”

“Spence, need I remind you that my mother is never home plus she hates me, and my father is even harder to stay in touch with?”

“Oh, right,” the blonde frowned. Looking at her feet she mumbled, “Sorry.”

“It’s okay.” The brunette looked up at the sky, watching a plane fly by. She sort of wished she was on it. “I’ll probably be sitting at home staring at my ceiling.” She looked back down at the blonde, “What about you?”

“Well, we’re most likely going back to Ohio. Staying with my aunt and cousin at their ranch.”

“Oh, that sounds fun. At least one of us will be getting away from this place. Even if for only a short time.”
