Cruise Control – (Chapter: Six)
“Hi.” Ashley replied as they kept walking.
“How’s it going?” Spencer asked nervously. Ashley chuckled.
“Good and you?”
“Great!” Spencer said brightly. “So, umm” Spencer started.
“Yeah?”
“What time did Madison leave the other night?” Spencer asked, remembering that Madison was M.I.A.
“I dunno.” Ashley said, shrugging. “By the time I got back, Kyla was passed out on the couch and Madison was gone with Carmen.”
Spencer narrowed her eyes but didn’t say any thing.
“I would’ve called you and told you…” Ashley continued. “But I kinda didn’t have your number.” Spencer nodded her head, understanding.
“It’s cool.”
“I kinda wanted to call you for another reason too.” Ashley said. Spencer raised her eyebrows.
“Oh yeah?” Spencer said, smirking. “What’s that?”
“Nothing serious.” Ashley started. “I was just wondering what your plans for this weekend were…”
Spencer turned her head away from Ashley and smiled slightly. She turned back and pretended to think about it.
“Umm…I might have something planned with Chelsea and Madison…” Spencer said, watching Ashley closely. Ashley’s expression changed slightly.
Aww. Poor baby…she looks disappointed.
“But how about I call you if that changes?” Spencer continued, handing Ashley her cell phone. Spencer watched as Ashley bit her lip in concentration as she entered her phone number.
That’s adorable.
“Here you go. Ashley said, handing the phone back. Spencer immediately stuck her tongue out. Ashley chuckled. “What was that for?”
Spencer laughed. “Now I have your number…and what do you have? Nada!” Spencer said, still giggling. Ashley only smirked.
“How do you know that’s my real number?”
The smile was wiped off of Spencer’s face. It was Ashley’s turn to laugh.
“I’m kidding!” She laughed. “It’s my real number.” Spencer tried not to smile.
“That was so not funny.”
“You’re right, it wasn’t.” Ashley said as she immediately stopped laughing. Spencer looked at her and frowned. “It was freaking hilarious.” Ashley said and began laughing again.
Spencer chuckled and shook her head. “You’re weird.” She said as they reached the parking lot.
Ashley shrugged. “It’s a good kind of weird though.”
Spencer instinctively looked to the spot where Madison’s car was usually parked. To her surprise, it was sitting right there. She frowned as she noticed Chelsea and Madison, who looked like they were yelling. Ashley followed Spencer’s eyes and immediately frowned.
