Chemicals React – (Chapter: 9. Too Late to Apologize)

They both stood there looking at each other in silence,
Ashley was more in shock that Spencer had just been so
honest with her, it made her feel guilty. After a few
seconds of silence which seemed like an eternity, Spencer
    spoke up.

“Okay, I’m going to go, so I’m sorry” she said
    practically whispering.

She started for the door, hoping Ashley would say something
at least. Nothing. She got to the door and swing it open,
ready to go back to her room.

“Wait.” Ashley said, her voice cracking. “Did you
    mean that?” she asked
Spencer still had her back to Ashley. “Mean what?” she
asked even though she meant all of it
“The part about only caring about you being in my life in
the future?” she asked, her voice smoothed out.
Spencer turned around to face her now, “Yeah, I meant
it.” She said hoping that this was Ashley forgiving her
“Oh, okay. That’s all, you can go now” she said

Spencer stood there for a second in disbelief, she was
almost positive that Ashley was going to forgive her, she
didn’t seem like to type to hold a grudge, especially
against her, she then turned back around to leave.

“Spence… I’m kidding. God, you’re so gullible. Of
course I forgive you, I can’t stay mad at you, besides I
    should’ve told you, I don’t know why I didn’t
    sooner” she said laughing

Spencer turned around there were tears in her eyes “Well
that’s a mean little trick” she said wiping away the
    tears that were forming.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t want you to think I was that
easy” she said “I mean, I am easy” she paused “But
don’t tell anyone I said that” she winked “Come
here” she put her arms out to give a hug.

Spencer walked over to her and put her arms around her,
they squeezed each other tight, and they both felt
electricity running through their bodies and they backed
    away at the same time.

“What is this basket?” she asked as she walked over to
    the table
“Oh, my plan B” she said laughing
Ashley looked at her “What’s in here?” she asked not
wanting to mess up the pretty job she did
“Well, I bought you some things, heres a poster of a
playboy bunny, umm a season of the L word, Energy drinks,
Cheesecake from the Cheesecake factory, Popcorn, and some
candy and chocolate, oh and a CD, the Katy Perry CD” she
    said naming everything.
“Let me guess, you went to a bunch of different stores
and tried to find the gayest stuff imaginable?” she
    laughed
“Yeah, that obvious huh?” she said crinkling her nose
“Haha child, you have much to learn, but thanks it was
nice of you” she said sincerely
    “Yeah, of course” Spencer replied
“What kind of cheesecake is this?” she asked taking it
    out
“White Chocolate Raspberry, you’re favorite right?”
she asked making sure, getting nervous that she’d gotten
    it wrong
“YES! Wow you really are amazing.” She said smiling

She just called me amazing. Me, Amazing.

    Spencer flashed a smile.

“So what are you doing now? Don’t you have something to
    go to tonight?” Ashley asked
    “Yeah”
    “Oh, what?” the brunette asked
“Party, but I’m not going” she said
“Why?!” Ashley asked as she grabbed a fork out of her
    draw
“Because, I’m here” she said very matter of factly
“What? You’re crazy, go to you’re party” she said
“No, I don’t want to go” Spencer stated
“Why?!” she said again in the same tone
“Because you’re more important! That’s why, stop
trying to kick me out, Jeesh” she joked
“I feel bad” she said forking a small piece of
    cheesecake
“Don’t feel bad, I want to be here, unless you want me
    to leave” she started
“NO!” she laughed “Sorry, I want you to stay” she
said holding up the fork with a piece of cheesecake to
Spencer’s mouth for her to have a piece
She took the bate, “mmm so good, I love this flavor”
    she added
Spencer then picked up the DVDs of the L word, “Shall
    we?”
“Easy slugger, I don’t think you’re quite ready for
    that just yet” she laughed.

The two girls made their way over to the couch, Spencer sat
as Ashley picked out a movie from her collection. She
pressed play sat down on the couch,

“So Ashley was it?” Spencer asked pretending to not
know her “Tell me something about yourself” she asked
    “Well, I’m a Junior, I’m 20 and oh yeah I like girls,
and my mother told me I’m going to burn in hell, nice to
meet you” she said adding to the joke

Spencer couldn’t help but laugh at Ashley’s response.

They got settled into their spaces on the couch and began
    to watch the movie.

10 things I hate about you. Classic.
