All three of us get into an easy conversation for a few minutes when Kyla decides to go to the cafeteria to grab some lunch. I ask her to bring me back a coke and a cookie to snack on. I know not very healthy but I’m not really in the mood for a full lunch. Well, not in the mood for a bad lunch.

Michelle snaps me out of my thoughts when she asks, “So what are you doing today after school?’

“Nothing much. Homework.” I smile

“Well, I was wondering if you’d like to hang out with me?” Michelle asks shyly

“Sure.” I say surprised. Wow, I never saw that coming. I mean, it’s just a little weird.

“Great. I’ve really wanted to get to know you for a long time.” Michelle beams

“Really?” I ask in awe

“Ummm…yeah, since last year. We had Trig together. I guess you never noticed me.” Michelle blushes

I guess I hadn’t. Last semester I only had eyes for a certain blond. But I’m still kind of surprised she didn’t at least say hi to get my attention or something. I mean I would of bean her friend.

“So why didn’t you talk to me?” I ask curiously

“Because you were seeing Spencer. You seemed to be in another world and completely out of my league.” Michelle says shyly

I frown and ask, “Out of your league? Yes, I was seeing Spencer but I would of still been your friend you know.”

“I mean you’re so beautiful. I didn’t think you’d give me the time of day. As it is it took me a whole week of rehearsing to do this.” Michelle blushes

I chuckle and say, “Well, I think you’re sweet and I’d love to be your friend.”

That’s when SHE came into my line of vision. She locked eyes with me and she didn’t seem to be very happy. She kept shooting daggers into Michelle’s back. I couldn’t help the smirk that crossed my face. So she wants me to just sit around and watch her screw anything with a skirt, huh? Well that’s not going to happen.

I smile warmly at Michelle again as I hold Spencer’s gaze and say, “Well, lets exchange cell numbers and I’ll see you after school.”
