Dammit, why did this have to be so complicated.
Collecting Elly from Ashley, she suddenly felt the need to be far, far away. To flee again. The last time she’d felt like this had been… had been just after they’d made love the first time. That glorious feeling of complete fulfillment coupled with mind numbing guilt and some emotion that was just untouchable. And why that feeling was now replicated Spencer didn’t know. She had nothing to feel guilty about, and certainly nothing to feel fulfilled about and yet the sensations were strangely the same.
Ashley regarded her oddly, and clearly couldn’t help asking: “Are you sure you’re ok?”
“Yeah” Spencer lied again. “Just a slight headache. I think I’ll get these two home and we’ll all have a nap.”
“Want me to come with? I can get off early.”
“No, no, we’re fine. You have things to do. It’s just a slight headache Ash, it’s fine.” She used her friends possessive name like she owned it. Hearing it on the strangers lips had given her chills.
Spencer didn’t sleep at home. She mostly walked around the kitchen wringing her hands and mumbling to herself. Luckily Alex was asleep and Elly was distracted by cartoons because Spencer was sure she looked half insane. She felt half insane that was for sure.
When Ashley came home Spencer tried her best to be convincing and normal. Whatever quiet and withdrawn nature was showing through she convinced the brunette was due to a headache. It was even a good excuse to go to bed early.
She had to get a grip.
The panic continued all through the next day. She couldn’t get the honey haired stranger out of her head. By lunchtime she was frantic, and at that point she realized she needed to calm down. Getting a firm grip in her emotions she spent the rest of the day chanting a litany in her head. ‘She’s just a friend. She’s just a friend. She’s just a friend. You’re being ridiculous, she’s just a friend.’
Stupid, but effective. By the time Ashley got home this night Spencer was a lot calmer. She flashed her friend a gorgeous grin and set about making dinner like their normal routine. Ashley was sitting at the breakfast bar cutting vegetables, Spencer standing in the kitchen doing various things.
“So, anything interesting happen today” Spencer ventured.
“Uh, yeah actually” Ashley said, looking shy.
Spencer’s heartbeat increased tenfold. “So tell me about it!” She hoped she sounded suitably excited.
“Well.. uh.. actually” Ashley wasn’t smiling, but she also wasn’t looking at Spencer. And she was mumbling. Spencer’s heartbeat took off even faster. Any faster and she was going to pass out. “I have a date tomorrow night.”

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO…ok, good drama but BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO damn it! Spencer has made so many changes, worked so hard to find her way and now Ash has to push the envelope! UGH!!! Being friends is over rated when you are meant to be together…and then it hurts even more when others are added to the equation. UGH!! Fine then, be that way if you must. You know we are all along for the ride.
Oh fuck! Spencer so totally screwed this up . . . Kinda, sorta. But you totally set this up perfectly. Spencer will finally come to terms with her feelings for Ashley. When she finally gets the courage to tell Ashley something Awesome (or hopefully not bad) will happen. Please don’t let Ashley mess Spencer up. Please let everything be ok. Love ya Clom! xoXOxo

ahahaa…only a matter of time. Youn can’t have it both ways Spence…or all ways, lol. I believe this is the “getting complicated” part. This is just the kick in the pants Spence needs; and Ashley. They’ve been on autopilot with Alex in the picture and such, but a sit down is in order. Spence is either gonna need to get over it and be happy for Ash’s date, which will be impossible, or say she’s jealous and go from there. Personally, I have no idea how Spence stays in the same house with Ash without busting into her room at night and taking one for the team. Mandy is a friend of mine, and sometimes, when she wants stuff, she flirts, and I’m like…*guuuuuh.* *drool* *spffffttttthmmmuuuuuhhhh…what?* I can’t help but imagine her for real when I read this fic and it drives me crazy, lol! S, soooo sorry I haven’t been commenting, but my life’s been busy busy. But, promise to be here for yah. Yay for update and I can’t waaaait for the next upcoming ones. xxo
so i scrolled down and realized that this is the most comments i’ve ever seen on a story. but i’m going to leave another one anyway :] AWESOME post. i loved it! but something tells me you wouldn’t built up all of this super huge tension and then not have the two of them together in the end, so i’m not too terribly worked up about this date thing.

Ouch! Oh goodness you just had to leave it at the exact moment right before Spencer’s head and heart explode into a million little pieces, didn’t you?! So good. I can’t really say anything else, I just love it. I knew this would happen, Ashley is SO good to Spencer but she does have needs too. Hmmm, honey hair an angelic face? Does she have blue eyes too? Ashley sure knows what type she likes once she sees it. I’m waiting for Spencer to burst and all the angsty goodness that comes with it. She needs to realize just how amazing Ashley is. She’s pretty much perfect, who could be better to her and her children? She learned sign language damnit! Spencer wake the hell up.

Then I suddenly see you’ve updated and I stick around at 3.30am to read it! mental! anyways, loving it! hopefully this’ll give Spencer the kick up the ass that she needs, cos God knows she needs to get over herself – plus it’s not fair to wait much longer as Ash may get attached to the hot randomer and than will be in turmoil when Spencer finally ‘fesses up. Aw hell Spencer. It’s time to do something drastic; hopping in your car and running over Ashley’s date a couple of times would be a good start. Well, not something that drastic. it just couldn’t be easy could it? why is there always this drama? i know it makes for a good story…and we even grow up in the real world looking for all that drama, thinking that we aren’t really in a ‘great romance’ unless we have that messed up feeling in our bellies. well, i only get that messed up feeling reading these really good fics (my life is perfectly drama free and filled with love at the same time. yes, i’m boasting.) but i still crave this story…and i so want them to be happy. but something needs to push spencer out of her little ‘everything is ok’ coccoon…maybe a little jealousy is just the ticket. you’re killing me clom…but in a good way.

WOW!! That was the first word that came to me at the end of this chapter. By the way love this story probably the most well writtin on this site.
