It’s been months after prom. Months since that night when I lost 2 of the people I loved so much. Clay and Ashley. Today’s the first day of school. I’m a senior now. I’m Spencer Carlin, and ever since prom pretty much wrecked my life, I’ve avoided Ashley like the plague. Today, however, I may not be able to avoid her. Great. I don’t see why she even tries to talk to me after she’s already broken my heart and is now dating Aiden.

She sent numerous text messages, emails, voicemail to me and even random trips to my house after prom to try to get me to talk to her. But I wouldn’t have it. I figured the best way to get over her was to not be in contact with her at all until I’ve completely moved on. And am able to forgive her. Although what she did is rather unforgivable, I think.  But so far, I can’t help but feel a twinge of pain in my heart at the very mention of Ashley.  

So far, I’ve made it halfway through the day without any Ashley encounters..  Lucky me. I think I’ll hurl if I see her and Aiden together.    I really wish a girl could just fall out of the sky into my arms and we could get together.  I need to get over Ashley. Correction:  I wish A HOT GIRL would fall outta the sky and into my arms. Hot enough to make Ashley jealous. Though I’m starting to think she’s rather homoflexible.

I close my locker and turn to go to my next class, when.. WHOA. My eyes meet with those of this.. reallllyyy cute girl. I’ve never seen her before.. Is she new? She has dark long hair, shes a little bit on the short side.. shorter than me.. slim, and veryyyyy cute. She shyly bites her lip as our eyes meet. Wait, is she checkin me out? Because I know IM CHECKIN HER OUT.  Then all of a sudden she trots off with her books in her arms. I stare after her for a second.  That girl was really good looking. And up to now, Ashley was the only girl I’ve ever thought about and had an interest in. “Who was that?” I ask Chelsea. “Someone who thinks you’re hot!” she says, with a smirk. “REALLY?!” YES! I wasn’t just imagining she was checkin me out. “What’s her name? Is she new? How do you know she likes me? She’s soooo cute!” I exclaim in excitement. Well.. this girl is extremely cute , but she’s not.. hot. Ashley was hot. But hey, shes good looking. I guess it doesn’t matter if the girl that just fell outta the sky into my arms that I wished for is cute and not hot. As they say, potato, potaTOE.  Same difference.  “Whoa. Slow down, Spence. Her name’s Carmen, and she just moved here from some  other school.  And I was helping her get used to this campus.” Said Chelsea. “Anyhow, she spotted you at your locker and she asked who you were.  She’s gay too. Since  she asked if you were. Guess she’s got gaydar. Haha.” Chuckled Chelsea. “And.. I was gonna show her where her next class was.. but I think you scared her off when you started ogling her back, Spence. I think she’s rather shy.” “Welllll… hopefully she won’t be shy enough to go out with me..” I said hopefully. “Go for it, Spence. “ Chelsea said with a serious look on her face.  “Ashley’s probably moved on, so you should too.” “yeah.. I said.. wincing at the mention of Ashley. “Hey Chels, think you can introduce me and Carmen to each  after school?” “Sure. Meet us by the parking lot, Spence.”
