After Prom… – (Chapter: Ashley Davies; noun: My life-ruiner.)

“Hi Spencer. Didn’t know you’d be here tonight.” This was perfect. Running into the ex  who couldn’t let you go when you’re with your current. I think I got a mess on my hands.“Yeah Ashley.. this is Carmen.” “Carmen, this is Ashley..” Ashley raised an eyebrow. “Soo.. Carmen.. THIS is who you’re dating, Spencer?” She snorted arrogantly. “What is she, your community service project? Spencer, I can’t believe you’re really going out with her.”Carmen instantly tensed up in annoyance, glaring back at Ashley. I couldn’t believe Ashley was doing this. What was her problem?  “I ALREADY TOLD YOU I WAS TODAY, ASHLEY.” I said, raising my voice. Ashley was really going to start something tonight the way she was getting on my case about dating someone else. “I told you, Spencer, I STILL HAVE FEELINGS FOR YOU.” She yelled back. “ASHLEY ARE YOU RETARDED, WE’RE OVER. YOU’RE DATING AIDEN. I’M NOT YOUR GIRLFRIEND ANYMORE IT DOESN’T MATTER WHO I’M DATING. IT’S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!.” I shrieked, fists clenched. “Ashley, why don’t you just leave? Haven’t you caused Spence enough pain for today?” Carmen said coldly. Ashley stepped towards her. “Listen, you stay out of this.  You’re not good enough for her.” She said, getting up in Carmen’s face. “AND YOU ARE?”  growled Carmen. “You’re a liar and you used Spencer—I don’t think that makes you a perfect girlfriend.” Ashley’s hand immediately flew out and slapped Carmen on the cheek. “ASHLEY! STOP IT!” I yelled, getting in between them. “Just go, Ashley. Go to Aiden.” I said as though I had told to go to hell, though.  “Ashley, leave us alone. I don’t get why you’re doing this. You have feelings left over for me, you say. Then why are you with Aiden? Stop playing games with me, Ashley.” I grabbed Carmen’s hand and we went in the other direction. “Spencer, I-“ Ashley began, but I didn’t stay there to listen to her.

I sighed as Carmen and I sat down on the bar stools. “Sorry you had to deal with Ashley, Carm.” I muttered. “It’s alright.” She said, putting her hand on top of mine. “How’s your cheek?” I said, caressing it softly.  “Hmm.. it stings a bit, but it’s nothing a kiss from you won’t fix.” She said, smiling sweetly. I laughed, leaning in and giving her a soft kiss on the cheek which Ashley had struck. “Hi Spencer.” said Kat, the bartender. “ I think I caught a glimpse of your little run –in with Ashley,” she frowned.“Yeah. She keeps telling me 2 conflicting things—That she still has feelings for me and yet she’s still with Aiden because she needs closure with him and she has old feelings for him that just reappeared again.” I spat out bitterly. “Give her some time.” Was Kat’s advice. “I know Ashley loved Aiden before she met you, but I also know she loves you a lot, Spence. She just needs to figure out her feelings.” “well, I’ll say.” I snorted. “So, Spencer.. who’s this?” she asked, eyeing Carmen. “Oh. Kat, this is Carmen. My girlfriend.” I said, putting my arm around her.  “Nice to meet you.” Said Carmen. “Hey kat, can you just give us 2 waters?” I asked. “Sure.” “Well, Carmen, let’s not Ashley ruin our night..so will you dance with me?” I asked sweetly, giving her my puppy dog face. Carmen giggled. “Yes, Spencerrr of course I’d love to dance with you.”   We made our way over to the dance floor. I had my arms around her waist the entire time from behind, and eventually our dancing turned into something more like… uh.. grinding. It felt good to be so close to her, to smell her fruity shampoo and vanilla scented skin. I looked up from glancing down at Carmen to see something that made me want to chuck up everything I’ve ever eaten in my entire life.
