    A Vampire's Lament – (Chapter: 4-Dressed in Decay)

He was dark-skinned, bald, and had an extreme gentleness surrounding him. It was nice to know that another family besides Judith and Odette would adopt someone in need.

"So you must be Ashley, Spencer’s favorite play thing. I mean, play mate!" He joked kindly, standing up from the couch to shake my hand. I laughed at his confidence. It surprises me that people are this blunt anymore but I like the rare surprises; it’s definitely nice for a change.

"I’m Clay by the way, and this is my girlfriend Chelsea." He continued, lifting his girlfriend off the couch to greet me as well. "It’s a pleasure to meet all of you." I say, turning around to find Spencer hugging her mom after a long night out. Her mom, Paula, glared at me for a second before releasing her doubts about me as I walked up to her to say hello.

"It’s so nice to see Spencer hanging out with someone else these days. Has she told you about that brat girl, Carmen?" Paula said, after shaking my hand hastily. I nod my head yes, and I was disgusted that even her parents would dislike Spencer’s choice of friends.

Carmen, was a thug, and a girl who liked to take advantage of their daughter for her riches.

Spencer was annoyed and did not like to talk about Carmen much either. "Yeah, she’s a bitch so what else is new?" She asked, ignoring her mother’s silent plea for manners. I patted Spencer on the back and the girl looked pleased instead.

"So is Spencer’s new friend hot or what?" I hear someone say coming from upstairs. I turn my head around only to find dread creeping up my spine. When I saw the young boy’s face, my stomach twisted itself into thousands of knots. My fear of the legend had gone away up until I saw Spencer’s other brother, Glen.

He had an innocent smile planted on his face and his generous, courageous personality matched that of Gabrielle’s brother in the legend of the goddesses. I uncomfortably walked up to him to greet him but I should have thought twice. I had forgotten to conceal the burns on my right arm(which I received after exposing myself in the sun while I was out with Spencer yesterday) and I used this arm to greet Glen Carlin.
