    A Vampire's Lament – (Chapter: 4-Dressed in Decay)

Was there something she knew that we didn’t?

"Wait, what do you mean you hadn’t expected this to happen so soon? Did you know that I would create a powerful bond beforehand?" I ask, standing up from the couch. Kyla was pulled along with me and she was also confused and demanded answers as well.

Odette and Judith looked at each other nervously and this raised my suspicions.

"Well? Do you know something that we’ve been kept in the dark about?" Kyla asked. Judith walked backwards towards the fireplace and glanced at me and my sister sadly. Odette’s eyes scanned us lovingly yet carefully as she had been thinking of what to say first.

"Well, there is something that we need to talk to you about. It’s actually about the main reason why we came to rescue you from your deaths years ago." Odette began, her voice shaking. I could feel my dead heart pounding my chest brutally as though trying to escape to avoid hearing the truth.

Judith spoke this time and decided not to beat around the bush like Odette was trying to do. "Ashley…Kyla…We’ve been so concerned with the legend of the goddesses because your family name, Davies, is connected to those families who were apart of the legend itself."

My dead heart nearly froze as she said this and I felt Kyla sway beside me. "Are you saying we’re probably related to those close to Misty or Gabrielle?" She asked weakly, strengthening her grip on my arm. My wound was on fire again and it was hurting like hell but I ignored it for the sake of the truth.

Odette shook her head as gently as she could to prevent herself from crying. "We’re not saying probably, Kyla. We’re saying that you two are related to Misty and her family." She said, watching the panic on my facial expression glow. "We saved you two from death because you’re the only descendants left of Misty. Those who were jealous of your powerful relations wanted to destroy you and we couldn’t allow it." Judith said, trying to relax the pain that was immensely growing inside of me.

After all this time, they finally mentioned why they really saved us from miserable death. Before I could respond, I screamed in agony because the gash on my arm opened itself again and it burned like fire! I fell to the floor, writhing in unimaginable pain as Odette, Judith, and Kyla knelt beside me.

My arm was quivering violently and I hissed as loudly as I could but howling in pain would not solve anything.

"Ashley! Please try to keep calm and tell us what you see!" Kyla said, soothingly massaging my neck to keep me from thrashing around. Judith was tending to my arm and Odette was looking for an aid kit to stop the excessive bleeding.

When I closed my eyes, I could hear a million voices at once in my head. They were all vampires and they were discussing the connection I had made with Spencer!

Suddenly, the voices stop and instead, I see an image of a young female no older than I am and she was sucking the blood of a human being. She had long black hair with short curls all over her head. Her eyes were as blue as Spencer’s and her lips were stained with permanent red-blood lipstick.

She was sucking the poor mortal until there was nothing left of him or her. She growled in satisfaction and another figure walked behind her. She was a tall woman with a gorgeous figure and her hair was black as night just like the younger immortal. Her eyes were darker than the fledgling’s, however, so they could not be related.

"Arial…can you feel the power of the connection? The mortal who is in regular contact with one of ours looks just like your sister. Shall we pay them a visit?" She asks in an unusually sexy, husky voice. The younger immortal named Arial looked up at the woman and nearly burst into tears.

"Yes, yes! Please, I wish to meet them but when? We need them so badly!" She replied. Then the image of the two women disappeared and Ashley woke up with her arm feeling completely numb. She could feel the signs of danger again but she had no strength to speak.

What did Arial mean by needing me and Spencer?
