A Secret Well Kept – (Chapter: Letting it Out)

"Sick of what Ashley, people talking about something that doesn’t have anything to do with you? Or are you mad at the fact that I don’t particularly care how your date with ‘Ally’ went? I saw it all you had a splendid time, I’m happy for you. Really I am, but for once can’t you just be the person who sits backs and listens? Is that asking too damn much?" Again that comment was below the belt. I almost laughed at it though; in fact I think I must have.

"You’re joking right? I don’t listen? That’s all I ever do with you Spencer. If you’re too naive or blind to see it than that’s not on me anymore. I hang on every single word that comes out of that mouth of yours and you know it. I would do anything you asked me to. What do you think this whole god damn date was about anyway? In all the years you’ve known me when the hell have you seen me go on a date? I don’t date. I didn’t want to go with you and Mr. Perfect tonight but I did. Why because you wanted me to. I did it for you. Just like I do almost everything else." I finished wishing I could take it all back, I said too much. I was angry, hell I’m still angry and she’s really not making me feel any better.

"Have I ever once asked you for these things Ashley? What’s all that even supposed to mean? Am I supposed to always understand the code you speak in? The riddles that you only let people in on every so often.  I can’t understand what you expect from me. I know I’m not the only one here that notices we’re different. You have to see it to Ash, and that part. That’s not on me." she retaliated. I could tell she was trying to piece everything together; I however didn’t give her enough time. I let her have it.

"What code am I speaking in Spencer?" yelling at her now. Both of us standing trying to gain the upper hand. "Cause I seem to be putting it all out there, you just choose to ignore it. Ignore it all. You only seem to clue into the things that you don’t want to run from. Otherwise you just don’t get it do you? You still can’t see it and it’s standing right in front of you. Staring you straight in the eye. Of course things are different Spencer they’ve been different for a long fucking time. I’m just glad you’re finally opening your eyes and taking notice." I spoke my words getting softer than louder, not really knowing my point anymore. Not really caring if it’s made. Not really caring if she can see what I feel. Maybe this is what it took. It took this argument; it took me reaching my boiling point.
