A Love Built To Last – (Chapter: Chapter One)

“Who are you dating then?” Ashley questioned with curiosity.

“You sound like you’re a jealous ex or something,” mused Spencer.  Are you writing a book on me?  Make that chapter a mystery.  It’s for me to know and you to find out.

“That’s what I want to find out who you’re dating,” Ashley responded.  I’ll keep annoying you until I get my answer from you.  Spencer rolled her eyes.

“Alright, if you really want to know, I’m dating Carmen,” stated Spencer simply.

    “Her?” Ashley asked in disbelief.

“Yeah, her,” answered Spencer.  Now if you excuse me, I have to get to class.  I’m going to be late and I hate being late.  Spencer closed her locker door and began to walk away.  Ashley followed her and Spencer noted, “You don’t know when to give up, do you?”

“No, I don’t,” Ashley responded.  I happen to be very persistent.  I know what I want and I know that I have to go after it.

“You are so fickle,” began Spencer.  This week it may be me and next week it could be Madison for all I know.

“Who says that you are just some other girl to me?” Ashley questioned with curiosity.  What if this is actually the real deal for me?  Madison?  The day I want to be with Madison will be the day that hell freezes over.

“People don’t just change overnight,” responded Spencer.

“What will prove to you that I’m different?” Ashley asked.

“If you prove that you can be friends with me first,” answered Spencer.  We barely know each other.

“So if I could do that, could we go on that date?” Ashley questioned.

“I’ll see you at lunch, Ashley,” responded Spencer.  Spencer went into her class.  A smile formed on Ashley’s lips.  Kyla appeared.

“You’re having lunch with Spencer?” asked Kyla.

“Yep,” Ashley answered.  She wants us to be just friends and I don’t really do friendships well so play chaperone for me.

“Well, she does have a girlfriend,” stated Kyla.  Spencer doesn’t seem like the type of girl to have someone else on the side.

“Why didn’t you tell me she did?” Ashley questioned with curiosity.  I looked like a complete idiot in front of her today.

“I thought that you might give up on Spencer and move on to the next girl,” responded Kyla.  You don’t really stick around for long when it comes to the dating scene.

“I think that it’s different now,” Ashley began.  There’s something already different in the air.  I can feel it, Ky.
