Chapter 5

Helena and Kit met at Tina’s with coffee, bagels and fruit in hand.  They both took a deep breath and then knocked on the door.  Angie could be heard in the background hollering “someone is at the door mommy.”

Kit smiled and called out “it’s your Auntie Kit and Auntie Helena baby girl.”

“It’s Auntie Kit and Auntie Helena mommy!  Hurry up! Open the door!”

“All right!  All right! Calm down Angie, I am coming.”  Tina opened the door and smiled.  “What do we owe the pleasure of your visit and with coffee, bagels and fruit no less?”

Helena just smiled and said “can we come in Tina?”

Kit just walked past those two and grabbed Angelica up in a big hug and began kissing her all over.

“Stop Auntie Kit stop.”  Kit smiled and let her down. 

“Ok baby girl lets eat some breakfast.”

They all made their way to the kitchen where Tina got out plates and cups. 

“Can I watch TV while I eat breakfast mommy?”  Tina was about to say no when she saw the look on Kit’s face. 

“Tina we need to talk so I think that would be a very good idea.  Why don’t I get her set up in there?”

Tina looked from Helena to Kit.  Something was up she just knew it.  “OK what’s up?”

“Let’s wait until Kit gets her settled.”  Helena smiled.

Kit came back to the table and sat next to Tina.   She looked at Helena and then back to Tina.  “Will you two just spill the beans you are making me nervous?”  Tina begged.

Kit took a deep breath and said “Tina, Peggy has found Bette.”

Tina covered her mouth so she wouldn’t scream.  Tears welled up in her eyes as she began to stammer “where is she…why hasn’t she called…oh my god she is all right isn’t she.”

Kit reached over and put her arms around Tina.  “She has amnesia.  She is fine other than that.  She is in Ecuador.  Peggy found her through a grant the center applied for.  Apparently she has become quite the artist and you and Angelica are her favorite subjects.”  Over the next 30 minutes Helena and Kit answered Tina’s questions as best they could.  When they were all exhausted, Helena told Tina of there plan to fly out today.
