Woman of My Dreams
Chapter 4
Early the next morning in Ecuador, Peggy and Dr. Roberts met at the center. Peggy was nervous. She was worried what this was going to do to Bette. Dr. Roberts had asked Jennifer to meet them at the center early that morning for breakfast. So she wasn’t surprised when Ms. Peabody was in Dr. Robert’s office. She was surprised though by the serious looks on their faces. “Hey what has gotten into you both this morning? You look like someone has taken all of your toys.”
Peggy and Dr. Roberts both looked at each other and grinned. Peggy was the first to speak. “Jennifer, why don’t you have a seat? There is something we need to discuss.” Jennifer took a seat and waited to hear what Ms. Peabody had to say. A little voice in her head told her this had something to do with her identity.
“Jennifer, when I saw your paintings I was amazed at how well you had captured your subject. I have known the woman and her daughter for several years. They are like part of my own family.”
Jennifer looked at Ms. Peabody in amazement. “Then do you also know who I am?”
Peggy simple nodded and answered “yes, you are like a daughter to me. I have known you for almost 10 years now. You are Bette Porter a gallery owner from Los Angeles California.”
“And the woman and child in the painting” Bette quietly asked.
“They are your wife Tina Kennard and your daughter Angelica.”
Bette looked at Peggy in amazement. She now knew who she was but nothing else seemed to change. It was like hearing about someone. She had hoped this knowledge would bring back her memory but nothing had changed. She still didn’t have any memory of her past life.
Peggy got up and sat on the couch next to Bette. “Bette, you had come to Peru to secure an artist for your gallery. While in Peru you heard of another up and coming artist in the mountains of Peru. You called Tina and told her you were going to travel into the mountains to visit this artist. That was the last we heard from you until I got the application for the grant and saw your art work.”

Peggy is there now so everything will be alright!!!!
Wow I just caught up with this story looks very interesting:)
Poor Bette – that’s a lot to take in all at once
The love that Bette has for Tina and Angie was stored in her mind but she didnt know why. Bette will need her whole familt to help her in the real world. Thank god for Peggy. thanks
This is so touching! I tried to empty my mind in a feeble attempt to experience what it would be like not to have any memories, but of course it was impossible. I am cooking dinner and could smell the chicken…and my memory reminded me that I like chicken, so the whole experiment failed! LOL Thank you for writing this sweet, sweet story.
this is all so exciting. PPS !
Interesting – B relearning everything but art
This was a shosrt chapter but packed with so much. Peggy gave her back some of her life but she still has to deal with the memory loss of those people she loved. However, we know that her love for them is so strong and so deeply embedded she has kept them in her mind and heart even though she doesn’t remember them, except in her mind’s eye. Peggy handled giving the info to Bette like the pro that she is and with all the love and respect she holds for Bette and her family. There is one thing that should jog Bettes memory of Tina and that is the smell of hair. That is the one thing that calms Bette when nothing else can. And Tinas boby aroma that Bette recognized as being so uniquely Tina. I think that when Tina embraces Bette some of her memory should start to come back, maybe. Another thing about Tina that should help Bette’s memory is when Tina talks to her in that beautiful southern drawl that Bette loves so much. It only comes out when Tina is being very emotional. I can’t think of anything that would serve as very emotional like this reunion would. Of course, when Angelica runs to her and yells Momma and throws her little arms around Bettes’ neck as only she can; and since Bette wanted to know more about Angelica from Peggy and we know how very much Angelica is loved by Bette, that should help a bit as well. Of course, when Kit embraces her and calls her Baby Sis. If these things don’t jog Bettes’ memory, I give up. I can hardly wait to see what happens next. Thanks for posting this very warm and loving story. It really tugs at the heart strings. PPS
Heart breaking but with time and Tina by her side, Bette will have a chance to live again with her family.
Bette must be going crazy. Knowing, because someone told you who you are, but having no recollection – not to mention Tina who must have gone through Hell. Can´t wait for them to meet. Still I wonder if it won´t be Angelica who brings Bette back.
Wonderful update. Can’t get enough of this story. Thank you
