Three Months Later…
Tina looked with satisfaction at their newly redecorated bedroom. She smiled as she placed the new candles in the holder and loaded the CD player with smooth jazz sprinkled with sexy rhythm and blues. She had a bottle of very nice champagne chilling and a new negligee that she knew Bette would not allow her to wear for long.
This was Tina’s official homecoming and she wanted it to be special. Her lease had expired yesterday and she was now home where she belonged. They had taken it slow even though they spent more time together than apart. She found herself constantly surprised by the changes in Bette and in their relationship. They were stronger than they were before and now they were truly a family.
Bette was no longer a workaholic. She was home before Tina most days and was much more domestic. She cooked four nights out of the week. The meals were simple but increasingly tasty and nutritious. Bette talked more about her feelings, listened more and was amazingly attentive to Tina and Angelica. Tina found that her breath was taken away in the most simple of everyday tasks. Tina remembered frantically searching for her favorite suit for a very important meeting only to have Bette tell her she had just picked it up from the dry cleaners the night before. Tina stood with her mouth hung open. Bette kissed her and laughed.
Their lovemaking had reached new highs. They made love practically everyday and sometimes twice a day or more. Weekend nights were a marathon. They would get up on Saturdays totally satisfied and indulgent with Angelica more than was good for her. Tina would make special breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday mornings, blueberry pancakes, mango slurpies, and banana muffins. Every night they read to Angelica and the library of her books was growing.
They were delighted with the family life they created and it surpassed the dreams they would once share with each other before the birth of their child. Angelica was almost two and Tina found herself wanting another child. Bette expressed some hesitancy about starting all over again but admitted it would be nice to share the experience together in a way they had not been able to when Tina was pregnant with Angelica.
