Coming up for air – part thirty two
Bette and Tina were on their tenth song in a row, still swaying slowly, their bodies gently brushing up against the other.
“Do you remember what ten days from today is?” Tina whispered, resting her cheek against Bette’s as she leisurely played with the curls that flowed down Bette’s shoulders.
“Ten days from today is September 7th … one of our anniversaries. The most important one really…” Bette whispered. She placed a lingering kiss on Tina’s cheek before she leant back to look into her lover’s eyes.
“The day we met…” Tina said while searching Bette’s eyes.
“… yes…” Bette smiled.
“Do we still celebrate that day, Bette?”
“It’s still the most important day of my life, T… I think we should celebrate the pivotal moments… Nine years, can you believe that?”
“I can actually,” Tina laughed.
“Oh, you’re getting bored with be… nine loooong years?
“Nah, not bored per se…..” Tina teased.
“Tina! You better continue that sentence with some serious praise….” Bette whined.
Tina laughed and pulled Bette closer. “I’m not bored… I never was. It’s just… I can hardly remember what my life was like pre-Porter. I remember what it is like loving you… I remember missing you… I remember hating you… wanting you… needing you… The past nine years have been filled with you in so many ways. I can’t remember not knowing you, and I can’t imagine my life without you… When I think about my past, my present, or my future you’re always somewhere in the picture…. I can’t help it,” Tina said, having turned a little more serious.
Bette looked back at her with eyes glazed over. “T… baby….”
“Enough praise for you, sweetie?” Tina chuckled.
“… I’m not entirely sure I deserve your staggering praise …”
“No?”
“No.”
Tina stopped her swaying. She took Bette’s right hand and placed it over her heart. Bette looked down at her hand. She felt Tina’s warm skin under the palm of her hand, and she felt the steady rhythm of her beating heart.
“Look at me, Bette.”
Bette looked up into Tina’s eyes. When their eyes met the rate of Tina’s heartbeat went up.
“Do you feel that?” Tina whispered.
Bette nodded, holding her breath.
“This right here….. this is why you deserve all the praise in the world. You hold my heart… like nobody else ever could…”
Bette’s tears spilled over and ran down her cheeks. Tina pulled her into a hug, holding her tight. They resumed their slow swaying. Bette buried her face in the crook of Tina’s neck, wishing they were alone.

I got worried there for minute, I thought I saw some drama creeping up, all crafty like, to scare away the bliss. That was a very smooth save from Kit. That’s not the first time she’s had her baby sis’ back, and I can see it won’t be the last. I know Tina will get completely past it, eventually. It’ll just take time, and Bette proving herself to Tina. On the plus side, Yay for quickies! And the best way to keep Al’s mouth shut is to make sure Dana’s on the other end of it. Wonderful chapter as always, anker, thank you.
Wonderful chapter and I do hope Tina gets past her fear. But do you know what would be hot? Bette getting so jealous and possessive herself that it turns Tina on and they have a powerful night together. Just a hint and suggestion thrown your way! LOL! Post again ASAP!

i believe bette won’t ever make this mistake again and it’s nice to see them talking about their fears, better than shutting another person up
It will take Tina a little time to get over her insecurities when she see’s Bette talking to other women. Even though her mind is saying one thing, it is difficult for her to control those emotions that make her frightened. I think we have all been in Tina’s shoes at one time or another. It was wonderful of Kit to soothe Tina until Bette could talk to her. Bette running her hands up and down Tina’s thigh at the table…wow…left me breathless to say the least! I don’t know what get’s more action on the L-Word fanfic site, Kit’s office or the bathroom at the Planet? LOL! No matter where B & T get naughty….they are HOT together! PPS.

Hi, Anker! I guess I comment on the (perhaps) less noticeable things because that is what makes your writing so unique and subtle. I certainly enjoyed this chapter as well, but my favorite part was when Bette, of course in retrospect, realized she should have brought Katherine over to the table and continued the discussion in Tina’s presence – with a COLD Perrier. Both our girls are trying… what more can we ask? Have a good week, and thanks for writing!
I loved the way that you delt with the drama. I can understand Tina’s POV and am happy that Bette understood that. Maybe if Tina was able to see Bette’s face and not the other woman’s face Tina would not have panicked the way the see did. OMG the almost sex at the table was priceless. Then loved the adult alone time in Kit’s office.
I am glad Bette sees that because of her, Tina is very insecur and It’s up to her to make sure Tina has no reason to doubt her in the futur. Awesome chapter anker, always looking forward to more.

I know Tina can trust Bette and have absolutely nothing to worry about, but it’s human to feel the way Tina does, especially with their past…Kit was great and so was her office LMAO!!!
