Coming up for air – part seven
Coming up for air – part seven
“Fuck, there is no where to park…” Bette screamed in desperation. She was frantically looking in every direction trying to find a parking space. Finally she gave up and double-parked. She practically ran to the door until she stopped in her tracks realizing that her entrance probably should be a little more suave.
“Nice Porter, barging through the door like a mad woman. Just calm down…” she muttered to herself. She smoothed out her jacket, moistened her lips, and took a deep breath before she went in.
Kit had been keeping an eye on Tina, trying to decide whether or not to go up to her. She couldn’t go back to her office because she needed to make sure that Tina didn’t leave and staying behind the counter without saying hello to Tina would seem odd. She decided that the only solution was to go over and let Tina know she was there. She just hoped she didn’t scare her away.
Tina had a smile on her face that Kit couldn’t quite decipher. She looked a little tired and her eyes were a bit puffy as if she cried not too long ago. Still, there was something serene about her appearance. As Kit came towards her Tina looked up and smiled at her former sister-in-law.
“Hi Kit,” she said in an almost shy manner.
“Hey stranger. I’ve missed seeing your face around here….” Kit said, “how are you, Tina?”
Tina looked like she had been asked about the meaning of life. Suddenly her calm seemed to disappear.
Both women willed themselves not to panic.
“Tina, it’s ok… just say you’re fine and I won’t ask again,” Kit said, trying to lighten the mood.
“Ok. I’m fine, Kit. How are you?” Tina said, a faint smile crossing her facial features.
“I’m good. Busy – which is good. Taking over The Planet is the best thing I ever did. It’s not a goldmine but it gives me something to do every day, you know.”
“That’s good to hear, Kit. You deserve to be happy. The place looks really great – and the coffee is still the best in town,” Tina said with a real smile this time.
“Well, we do have a reputation to uphold,” Kit grinned.
They managed to keep the conversation going, navigating in the minefield of topics and names they couldn’t refer to.

wow… thats about all i can say
That went rather well…I think they still have alot to talk about but baby steps are good. Post soon
Oh how romantically sappy! I love it.
Tina is clearly in love with the idea of being a mother. Absolutely NO reason to stay in a relationship. Granted she should not RUN back to Bette but she shouldn’t run away either. She left her base…her friends rather her family. I wonder what she would have said if Bette would have said “I’m pregnant Tina.” I was glad they were able to talk to one another without fighting.
I especially like the comment that Tina made about being a failure at moving on. She is not a failure at the other things that she mentioned but I am extremely happy that she can not let go of Bette.
Yahh B&T talk!
I hope Tina gets enough sense to dump that loser Henry and goes back to Bette. Bette is the one for her and loves her with all her heart! Thank you for the chapter, please continue!
is good that they talked without ending in a fight, and Bette is willing to bring Tina back i hope Tina thinks very well the situation and try to do an effort too
