A Red Sunset
Chapter 2: Anger
Eric’s POV
A game was a game. Therefore I should not care about Jane Swan. Just like Luke said. Luke and I had been partners since the 1800s. We had started the legend of Incubus with our little game. We had both been betrayed by the same vampire female called Lucy. Luke had always been the calm one, he just simply wanted vengeance by preying on woman. I got my vengeance on Lucy herself. I made sure it wasn’t easy. I made her beg me to burn her. And in a vampire that means a lot. Luke kept me because he admired my raw rage and violence. I was this way because I was so angry at my human ability to instantly be betrayed by those such as Lucy, angry because she threw me into this life. I thrived on feeling the power that I had with this life, it was my one comfort. I used my lures to ensnare the weak and I would feel the power and like it. My power helped too. I could get a decent image of what my prey was thinking at that moment that I would appear, and it would only encourage the desire. After my “date” with Jane Swan I had thought I would have ended it and just be done. Because Jane Swan triggered desire in me, but I could never bring myself to just get it over with. To speak the words to which she would follow. The desire was unexplainable, I would be following the usual façade of a gentleman, act chivalrous, and lure in the weak, but then when it came to it I would see my face through her mind or see her fear and I couldn’t do it. Luke walked into our makeshift “home”, the abandoned house I had taken Jane to.
“Hello Eric” he said through pursed lips. I saw the town we were in in his mind toned with a bored color. “I’m ready to move on”
“I’m not” I challenged
“Just kill the bitch” I flinched, and hissed, Luke looked at me in surprise and tested the atmosphere around me hesitantly. He could read feelings. I was as surprised as he was at my defensive action.
