You Can Put The Blame On Me – (Chapter: It's like I'm taking 5 steps forward and 10 steps back, tryin to get ahead of the game, but I can't seem to get it on track)
I walked down the cold street of east Atlanta. I was in a decently good mood considering the circumstances. If one were to guess they would say it was about forty five degrees. Looking around me, I saw that nobody was outside. It looked like a deserted town. There were cars parked next to the sidewalks, but no one sat there to occupy them.
Despite everything, I was happy as I made my way to the nearest ATM. I reached the machine and let it take my card. I took out forty dollars and as it printed the receipt I began to whistle a merry and joyful Christmas song. Christmas may have been over by three weeks, but it was my favorite holiday which happened to hold my favorite songs.
I grabbed the receipt and the card and stuck them in the pocket of my jacket. I pulled a beanie over my blonde hair and left the building which held the ATM. I got to the corner and hear the sound of a click to the left of me. I turned to see a gun in my face. My heart began pounding in my chest, pounding, pounding.
I turned my body to face the anonymous person and placed hands slightly above my head. I took a second to look at the one holding the gun. She was about my age with brunette hair that hung in curls down to her shoulders. She was fit and so I didn’t want to step up to her. However, I looked in her eyes. Her eyes were as gentle as snow.
My gaze softened and my heartbeat slowed. Her hand was shaking. I could tell that she didn’t want to do something like this. She didn’t have the heart to shoot a person. “Give me any money you have on you!” She said with force. Her voice was a deeper tone than most and a little hoarse.
“I don’t have any money.” I lied as I lowered my hands to my side.
She kept the gun pointed at me as her other hand reached to my jacket and pulled one side open. She let out half of a laugh before releasing the cloth. “Don’t lie to me. If you can afford clothes like those, you have money on you.”
