Ever the Same – (Chapter: Ch. 27: Notebooks Are For Notes)

The tension could be cut with a knife. Of course, who really knows what that expression means? A lot of things could be cut with a knife.

Ashley was doing her best to not cut her significant other with said knife.

    It’d be a tad violent.

Everyone was seated around the dining room table, eating Chinese take-out (Cecile had kicked Arthur out of the kitchen, so there were no homemade meals, this night).

Well, with the exception of Spencer and Ashley.

The brunette had yet to put any of the food in her mouth, at all. She just sat, scowling at her plate, as she pushed some sesame chicken around in circle, with her fork.

Spencer, however, was doing a better job of playing off the allusion of eating, as she merely took*tiny bites here and there.

Needless to say, Ashley was still pissed from the happenings of earlier that day. Although, to say she was pissed was probably an understatement.

The blonde had made an effort to talk to the girl, but Ashley wouldn’t have it. In fact, the last thing that the brunette had even said to the other girl was the “fuck off” she shot at her in the woods. Any times after that, when Spencer would try to say something to her, Ashley would just turn and walk away, without saying a single word.

After a few hours, Spencer had just stopped trying all together, and she sulked around the house, as Ashley hid in Easy’s room, messing around with his guitars – she made sure it was okay with him, beforehand.

    “Ashley?” It was Cecile.

The brunette looked up from her plate. “Huh?”

“You haven’t touched your food,” she pointed to the girl’s plate with her fork.

“Yeah, Ash,” Arthur cut in, “do you not like Chinese?”

Ashley frowned back down at her plate. “I love Chinese…” It came out as a near whisper.

Spencer glanced at the other girl and sighed. Ashley did love Chinese. Most times the brunette took Spencer out to eat, it was Chinese. Obviously a crazy food obsession.

“Actually, uhm…” Ashley trailed off trying to think up an excuse to leave, “I’m not really feeling well.• She grabbed her stomach for emphasis. “Can I, uh, be excused?”
