“Flight 1630 to Los Angeles will begin descent in 30 minutes.” A voice
announced over the speakers, waking up a petite redheaded woman sitting
    in first class.

“Hey Bette,” the woman yawned. “Did you hear? We’ll be in LA soon. I’m
so excitedI’ve never been here before.” The woman continued to speak,
not noticing that her boss wasn’t paying attention in the least.
“Aren’t you excited to come home?”

Her assistant’s last words pulled Bette out of her thoughts. ‘Home?’
    Bette thought. ‘Home. I don’t know if I can do this. *****, *****, *****,
    *****’

“Yeah Claraexcited.” Bette replied casting a fake smile at her
assistant. Excited was not the word that accurately described Bette’s
feelings on returning to her long lost home.

    ‘Scared shitless doesn’t
even do it justice.’ Bette thought to herself.

    ————————

It had been three years since Bette Porter had fled West Hollywood.
Three years since she ran from anything and everything that reminded
her of the destruction and decay of her life. She ran from all evidence
of her betrayal. Things that had once made her happy-her home, her
friends, her job-became painful and haunting reminders of everything
    she had ruined.

The CAC became the scene of the crime. Bette’s
workplace was no longer her throne of power, but a prison that taunted
her with memories of happier times and memories of the unraveling of
her life. Going to work became torture and finally drove Bette to quit
in a magnificent outburst that truly lived up to the Porter name.

    Their
home became a house–an empty shell that used to hold the happiness of
Bette and Tina. Every room, every hall, every corner held 1001 memories
that were seared into the mind of Bette Porter. Soon being awake caused
a rapid descent into depression. Pictures, clothing,
furniture-everything was a catalyst for an emotional reaction. She had
known it was only a matter of time before the house would crush her.

The gang had desperately tried to befriend both Bette and Tina in the
aftermath of Provocations, but Bette had known it wasn’t possible. Dana
and Alice had both struggled to make plans with Bette or include her
when they ran into each other. Bette played along in the beginning.
Desperate for companionship, she was willing to pretend for a few
    minutes that everything was okay.
In the end, it was their faces that gave them away.

    Their silent
glances and awkward conversations were evidence enough that everything
wasn’t okay in their small family. Bette knew immediately if they had
seen Tina by the looks on their faces and the pain in their eyes. It
seemed that Tina’s heartbreak was powerful enough to spread to anyone
within range. This frightened Bette. She knew she had fucked up, she
knew she’d hurt Tina, but the look on Alice and Dana’s face said she’d
done much more than that. It was almost as if she had destroyed Tina.
Bette had asked about Tina all of the time, but both Dana and Alice
insisted they hadn’t seen her very often.

    1. fucking awesome, so I wonder if in any story if shane and tina would ever hook up???
Maybe that’s just me, but I would love to see your take on that night and what tina and shane talk about and how shane has helped tina.

    2. Yes. please keep writing. No. Shane and Tina are no together. just life long Buddys. Shane is smart enough to know that she would always be second in Tina’s heart. That Bette would always be no1. thanks
