Written in the Stars Chapter Three
Floor. Didn’t I fall asleep on the couch?
“Madam” a male voice called out softly.
What the Fuck. Tina’s eyes sprang open. She saw the tip of a man’s boot directly in front of her mere inches from her nose. What was a man doing in her condo?
“What the fuck” she yelped as jackknifed into a sitting position.
The young man seemed surprised at her use of explicit language.
“I’m sorry I scared you.” The young man apologized. “My name’s Thomas” he stuck out his hand to Tina. He seemed friendly, Tina liked him instantly.
She grabbed unto it. The guy helped her to her feet. He stared amusingly at the way she was dressed. That when Tina noticed how he was dressed and the five to six men behind him. They were all dressed like George Washington and Abraham Lincoln in the history movies and lessons she’d paid attention to, which was hardly ever.
“Where the hell am I” she asked looking around.
The area was unfamiliar. She was in the middle of a street surrounded by a town that looked something out of an old movie, very old movie.
My God.
“Madam, you’re in Spring county” the young soldier said. That’s what he had to be from the way he was dressed.
“What” Now Tina was panicking? “I fell asleep on my couch. How did I get here?”
“Come, I’ll take you to the sergeant in charge. Maybe, he’ll help you get home.” The man looked at her outfit again.
“Okay” she replied hoping this was some sort of nightmare and she’ll wake up to Alice banging down her door. She even pinched herself hoping it will get her out of her reverie but there was no such luck as the soldier and his platoon accompanied her to a small office located in the center of the town.
The sun had already risen and a few people were outside starting off their new day. They all stared at her like she was some kind of unknown creature.
The SpongeBob pajamas really made her stand out. The women were dressed in such big dresses while the men were dressed in suits and some in work clothes.
Where the fuck am I? Tina was scared this wasn’t a horrible dream.
When she entered the small office an older man sat behind the desk, he was dressed just like Thomas. He and Thomas saluted each other.
Not a dream rang like a bell throughout Tina’s head.
“How may I help you, Thomas” he asked eyeing Tina yellow PJs. His expression clearly gave way to what he was thinking which probably, what the fuck.
“I found this woman in the middle of the street and she doesn’t know where she is or from” Thomas answered.
The man behind the desk eyes turned to her “What’s your name, Ma’am”
She was at her end with this damn Ma’am and Madam calling. “I’m not that old” She blurted out. “I’m only twenty eight years old…” She paused “…and my name is Tina Kennard” finishing curtly.
“Okay, Ms Kennard” the sergeant answered back sarcastically.
Irritating Tina but she let it go.
“What were you doing dressed like that…” He pointed to her clothing “…in the street”
“I don’t know” Tina answered confused at the whole situation.
Where was she and what was she doing here? The bigger question was how did she even get here?
“How do you mean you don’t know” the sergeant’s voice boomed throughout the office scaring Tina just a little but what scared her even more was the calendar that was behind the sergeant’s head on the wall.
It read: November 1665
The walls had to be closing in. the room felt airless and stuffy, the words coming from the sergeant’s mouth were nothing but burble. Her vision was getting cloudy, her stomach felt queasy and her head was getting lighter and lighter.
Tina fainted.
