Friday night, Milk
“Ugh-oh” Shane groaned, looking over Carmen’s shoulder. “We have a dancing tennis player.”
Carmen was laughing before she turned around, “Where!?”
“Come on.”
They had come to Milk hoping to run into Dana.
Shane had called her several times that day hoping to make plans, but the tennis player hadn’t answered her messages.
Alice had told Shane about her conversation with Dana after leaving Shane’s that morning.
Afterwards Shane had tried to track her down, figuring Dana could use
some fun. Apparently Dana was WAY ahead of her. She was getting down
with her bad self on the dance floor and singing it too.
“Go Shorty, It’s your birthday! Gonna party like it’s yo birthday!”
“Dana Fairbanks doing 50 CentDo I have to stop this?” Shane wondered.
Carmen laughed, “Yes you do! We promised Alice right after this song.”
Shane grinned, sitting down to take in the show.
Slowly she realized she wasn’t the only one. Dana had quite the audience.
Shane winced at Carmen, indicating the crowd. “Sucks to be famous,” she
yelled to her girlfriend. Carmen, nodding with the music, grabbed
Shane’s hand and pulled her on the dance floor towards Dana.
“HEY YOU GUYS!!” shouted Dana. She grabbed them both in a bear hug and began an elaborate dance of welcome.
“At least she’s a happy drunk,” Shane thought.
The girls followed Dana to her table where Shane and Carmen discovered
a trio of women from Chicago had adopted Dana. They were here attending
a seminar in Anaheim. One visitor in particular looked ready to
relocate.
“You’re friends of Dana’s?” the tall blonde chirped, extending a hand.
“Shane.” “Carmen.” They offered in unison, sitting down. Shane signaled to the bar for beers.
“I’m Gretchen!” the blonde revealed. “Jill.” “Miriam.” Her friends,
offered. This made all three laugh so hard, Shane wondered if they were
using aliases.
Dana was oblivious. She was trying to balance her saltshaker in a small
pile of salt in front of her. Her tongue was out, evidence of her
concentration.
Gretchen rubbed her hand along Dana’s thigh, murmuring encouragement. She looked ready to eat the athlete.
Shane and Carmen exchanged a look.
Shane felt divided. Dana was free to do as she wished. Yet Shane was
positive Dana didn’t really want this woman. She was equally clear that
Alice would be very unhappy about it.

I love Dr. Stella, why can’t she be on the show to help out Alice? Oh yeah, she can’t be on the show cause she makes sense. And Drunken Dana, there are no ways to express my glee at that scene! Great update!
Oh Capesquad, how am I going to last a week without knowing what happens next? How did you develop such amazing insight into Alice?
I agree totally with you really knowing what is going on in Alice’s head. I like the explaination of the chart. I can’t wait to see where you go with this. Great update.
Thanks to you, cape, I’m not afraid of watching the stalking Alice now… can you also make sense to the cheating Dane story line?

I think in such situations, it’s all about you and you alone. Dana can be a trigger, but staying away from her will not solve Alice’s insecurities. Only, they remain hidden and silent but they stay. Beautifully written as always and the inner journey into Alice’s life, heart and past is heart breaking. Thanks a million times – and even more thanks for deciding to post in such a Danish-depressing day.
I’m sure that was slander against Lenore somehow! It must be against all the rules, but I’d love to see Lenore and Alice with Dr Stella . . . I like the outspoken Dr Stella in this update. And dancing Dana of course. I’m staying with your version of S3.
I know I’m late in commenting but I am loving this story more and more with each chapter. Wonderful job.

Dr. Stella is baadass. I wouldn’t mind having a seesion with her. I also liked where the idea of the chart originated from. Also since starlai’s requesting, what do you make of the ‘cancer’ storyline and Dana going bald? Please tell me it was an act of revenge brought on by Lara pulling a Lucy, but instead of the torture, she shaved Dana’s head off for dumping her and for riding off into the sunset with Alice? That way, there is no cancer to speak of. Nice update!
