Who I am, when I´m not with you

Broken. That was the one word Bette’d describe Shane with. Not that gorgeous and cool didn’t match her as well, but that was just on the outside. When you had the privilege to really get to know her you saw that broken was the one word to describe the skinny woman.

Things hadn’t exactly been great, when Shane first moved in with Jenny. She woke up screaming at night, she picked up a lot of girls, none of them ever staying the night and sometimes she got so high and drunk she wasn’t even able to make it into the house, instead passing out on the porch, but they’d all known she had issues and weren’t exactly worried, then Carmen had shown up in their friends’ life and somehow she’d managed to light the hidden black patch deep in Shane’s chest that her heart was and as far as Bette could tell not only the drugs stopped but she also managed to get the stud to monogamy. Sure no relationship was perfect, but it wasn’t until a couple of moths ago, when Shane had left her beautiful fiancé on the altar in the middle of Canada, that things started to go south.

Shane never told any of the gang why she left. She just watched them getting Carmen’s stuff and went on with her life like nothing happened. At least that was what she wanted them to believe, but they all knew her drug addiction was getting out of control. She also lost her job at WAX, but they figured talking to her would only upset her more. Shane liked to pretend her friends didn’t know what she was doing to herself. All they could do was hope she didn’t overdose, which was exactly, why Bette was nervously tapping on the table at “The Planet” instead of enjoying her breakfast with Tina.

“It’s 11.30. She said she’d meet us for breakfast at 11, right?”

“Yes, she said 11.  Why are you so nervous? You know she’s always late.”

“Tina, I’m worried… Her truck wasn’t there this morning. What if something happened?”

“Look, why don’t you just call her? I’m sure she just got home from partying all night and fell asleep.”

Bette shot her wife an incredulous look, but reached for her cell anyways.
