    White Lie 15

Bette had been awake for a while when she realized it was approaching ten in the morning. She was surprised Tina hadn’t called yet. She picked up the phone and dialled.

“Hey Tee,” Bette said upon hearing the quiet hello at the other end.

    “Hi,” Tina replied groggily.

“Oh oh, I thought it was late enough to call,” Bette said, her words laced with unspoken apology.

“Normally this would be plenty late enough,” Tina replied, after rolling over to look at the bedside clock. “But now Angie and I are both sick. I’m sorry I’m going to have to cancel today.”

“Of course,” Bette replied. “But instead of the three of us going out together, I’ll come over and take care of you.”

“That won’t be much fun for your weekend,” Tina said. She emphasized her point by stringing together a few sneezes in a row.

“Bless you,” Bette said. “And the point is, I would rather spend time with you than do anything else.”

“It would be nice not to have to cook,” Tina commented.

Bette heard the sound of a nose being blown.

“Aw, sweetie, I’m coming over right now,” Bette said. “If you could get up and unlock the front door, I’ll be able to just come in and get something started for you to eat.”

    “Okay,” Tina replied meekly.

“Then crawl back under the covers with Angie,” Bette said. “I’ll take care of both of you all weekend. Is there anything I can bring with me?”

“Neo-citron and scotch,” Tina replied immediately upon hearing the question. She went on to explain. “It clears my chest and helps me sleep.”

Bette laughed at the suggestion but jotted down the items for Tina’s elixir, just to be sure she wouldn’t forget.

“Stay warm,” Bette instructed. “It won’t take long for me to pick up a few things and I’ll be right there.”

    “How soon?”

“No longer than 30 minutes,” Bette promised.

“Can you stay over again?” Tina asked quietly.

    “Of course,” Bette replied.

It hadn’t taken long for Tina to move from not needing any help to wanting Bette to stay all weekend.

Bette was soon arriving at Tina’s front door, groceries in hand, to care for the most important people in her life

    1. If Seahurst is ordering up Bette, can I claim Tina? I’m sure she’ll be better by the time I have any chance to pay attention to her. I hope stuff gets better for you, too, swimmie. Thanks!

    2. Heck you two got the Mommies you need a babysitter,I’ll take Angie. Can Bette really cook???? So glad she is there for both Tina and angie Bette would be terrible if she became Ill. thanks

    3. “Glen something or other…Seemed…I don’t know. Scottish.” I find this amusing because I was engaged a long time ago to a Glenn who was of Scottish descent.

    4. Well JKS despite the fact that evrybody was sick in this chapter, it was a “feel good” one for me. It’s just nice to see no angst and just a happy Tibette for a change! However, if you’re like Ilene, you like anvils and I think one dropped in this chapter. Hmm….do I hear any sneezing from Bette in a future chapter?

    5. Aww. Bette is being so, so lovely. Really, you are making me forget how much Bette on the real show is annoying me. Anyway, this was perfection. It totally made my day since I heard South of Nowhere was being canceled.

    6. I’m back after taking forever to read this story. With school and work, it’s takes me a while before I can actually read, but this was a really sweet chapter. I wish could have Bette take care of me when I’m sick. LOL Nice update

    7. Nurse Bette seems to be at a high demand. Maybe Doctor Tina and Nurse Bette will be willing to make house calls. If so just add my name to the growing list. Hope that both Tina and Angelica are well soon.

    8. Very nice and very sweet. Suddenly falling sick doesnt seem so bad :) Thank you for taking the time to write and entertain us with your story. Hope you’ll find the time to write more soon.

    9. Hey JKS, Amazing to reaed how an illness can become a loving moment between these gals. Great to see Bette rushing to be by Tina and Anglies’s sides. This is her family and she is ready to be there in all capacities. Loved the “Scotch” mention. Remember that whiskey is only Scotch if made ffom Scottish water. I would have thought that Bette was cognizant with the wonders of Scotch given her wining and dining of major donors. It was wonderful that Tina suddenly felt able to sleep once she knew Bette was in the house. Both gals were disappointed that their weekend was not playing out as planned however were glad to be near each other. The measure of the depth of their connection was in the acceptance of these facts. Brilliant!!! More please. From Your Loyal Fan.

    10. heheh…Just what the doctor ordered…nice strong medicine…21 year old Glenlivet…Good taste for somebody who doesn’t know what they’re doing. And I get dibs on Dr. Bette as I’ve been in bed now for over two weeks straight! :P

    11. “Betteremedy,” I like that Seahurst, can I have one too? jks, love this recourtship you’ve got going on for our girls….so should Bette fall ill, I think a hot cup of T should put her right, no?! ;D

    12. Awww! B taking care of T is just sooo sweet and spending the weekend with her family sounds just charming. Thanks for the update. You’re great with us, pampering us with this excellent story. Take care. – Lucero & Marsha – From Mexico City
