    While you were sleeping

Carmen and Shane were sitting on the couch, Shanes mind obviously elsewhere. Carmen looked bored and irritated, fed up with the lack of attention from Shane. She kicked her foot against the sofa and Shane looked up startled, coming out of her reverie. She forced herself to pay attention, and stay focused on Carmen.

    Shane we need to talk.
    We do? Oh, uh-huh. Shoot.
Shane this needs to stop. This relationship is going nowhere. What am I talking about? Its not even a relationship. You cant just put half of yourself into a relationship and expect it to work, yknow. You know I like you, Im crazy about you. But its clear you dont feel the same. Well, at least, not to the same extent.
Wh- no, no youve got it wrong. No. Im into this. I am. I am. stammered Shane.
Shane stop. I dont want to hear it. It is like, so obvious to everyone but yourself it seems, that youre in love with somebody else. I dont know why youre so terrified of your feelings but stop fighting what you feel for Sarah, its not good for you. So, Im out of here, I deserve better than this Shane and you know it. It was a blast while it lasted. Seeya, and with that, Carmen kissed Shane playfully on the cheek and walked out the door, the heavy burden finally lifting off her shoulders.

Shane slumped on the couch. Well what could she say to that? Nothing really. It was true. Every waking moment she spent with Sarah, or thinking about Sarah. She was constantly niggling in the back of her mind. Her husky laugh, those sparkling blue eyes. And her smile. That smile never failed to light up her day, no matter how incredibly torturous it had been. They just got on so well with each other. Sarah was like an extension of herself. They constantly had the same thoughts, ideas and opinions and were already at the finishing each others sentences stage. They were joined at the hip, inseparable. Shane had had pretty amazing friendships before but this was different. Sarah was her other half. She groaned, stuffing her face into a nearby pillow.

Alice and Sarah were sitting on the couch, Sarahs mind obviously elsewhere. Alice looked bored and irritated, fed up with the lack of attention from Sarah. She kicked her foot against the sofa and Sarah looked up startled, coming out of her reverie. She forced herself to pay attention, and stay focused on Alice.

    The next night, The Planet

Sarah maneuvered her way through the crowd, praying the drinks she was holding wouldnt spill. She finally made it to Shane, glasses still in tact.
Here you go, said Sarah as she placed the drinks down.
    Sit, commanded Shane.
Ok ok, geez whats your problem? asked Sarah as she took her seat next to Shane.
    We still havent talked.
About? Oh. Ok. That. Said Sarah, as she realized what path Shane was going down.
So we both get dumped by our women, same night. What the ***** is that about? Do tell me your story, said Shane smiling coyly. Sarah hesitated.
Well why cant you tell me yours first? inquired Sarah, her heart beating crazily at the thought of having to tell Shane her little secret.
Fine. Fine. OKayyy, Shane muttered, not really sure how to begin. But here it was, the perfect opportunity to tell Sarah what had been weighing on her mind for months. She breathed deeply, hoping to calm her nerves. Shed never been in this situation. Sarah, the reason Carmen broke up with me is because she could see I was in love with someone else. At this statement, Sarahs heart plummeted. Oh God, why is she telling me this? I dont want to hear about who she loves! Sarah felt sharp pains in her chest, round about where her heart would be, and she felt sick.
Sarah, I love you. Like, madly. Weve been friends for a while and from the second I saw you, I wanted you. Not being able to have someone is new to me, and I didnt know how to deal with it, so I ignored it. I was so scared of these unfamiliar feelings for you. I mean, I know I loved Cherie, but this is different. Its more. There is so much more to it than ***** and lust. I want to see you every day, be with you every second. A minute past, and Sarah was silent, Shane was wringing her hands in agony. Any thoughts? Dont leave me hanging, Im dying here.
Sarah inhaled. Awe baby. I am so so so glad that you saved me from having to do the speech. I love you too, said Sarah, cradling Shanes chin in her fingertips. She leant forward and kissed Shane softly, tenderly. Shanes heart was soaring. No-one had ever kissed her that way. Affectionately, warmly. Lovingly.

    Next morning, Shanes bed

Shane yawned, stretching her arms out, very much naked. She grinned, remembering last nights events, never wanting to forget. She looked around hazily and felt the bed next to her, but Sarah wasnt there. She sat bolt upright. There were no noises in the kitchen, no running water in the shower, Sarah was gone. She frowned and her heart sank. The one time she actually wanted to see the person the next morning, and every morning, she left. A car door slammed and Shane grabbed the sheet covering her and wrapped it around herself toga-style, and ran out the front door.

Shane spotted Sarah in her car, starting the engine.
WAIT! Wait wait where are you going?! asked Shane, her voice urgent. Her eyes searched Sarahs face as she stepped out of the car.
Babe, Im going to soundcheck extra early before my show tonight, get all that jazz out of the way, so I can have lunch with you. Why? Where did you think I was – ohhh. You silly girl I aint leaving you. Awe, darling, you dont ever have to worry about that, answered Sarah, smiling, but her eyes were concerned.
Shane looked down, sheepish. She felt like an idiot. Of course Sarah wouldnt up and leave her. She knew better than that. Sorry Sarah. Im such a tool.
Sarah giggled. No girlfriend of mine, is a tool, understand? Shane nodded, laughing. You look beautiful by the way, grinned Shane, fully appreciating her hot girlfriend.
Awe, thanks. So do you, said Sarah eyeing Shanes slender body, swathed in only a sheet. Shane laughed and flipped the sheet open, causing Sarah to giggle.
Oh how can I compete with that?! exclaimed Sarah as her hands encircled Shanes waist beneath that tedious sheet. Shane cupped Sarahs gorgeous face in her hands and the two kissed passionately, putting on a very public display of affection.
