what if…(III)
Tina was sipping her cold tea, her look lost in the space as Alice was chewing the cookie she has been holding for almost half an hour.
They were in what it has become their favourite hang out. It was a small, quiet, dark, even reclusive caf that they found out one night after dinner. They passed by and seeing the warm light inside, through the thick long red heavy curtains, they decided to stop. It was like being at an European caf. For a place in LA it had everything you could never imagine to find. The walls were red, green and burgundy velvet sofas were set to make the place even more cozy. The walls were covered with real paintings. Not the usual bright, cheerful ones. They were dark, sad, but beautiful ones. As Alice pointed one day, Id write a story from each one of those paintings. And one day she started to.
Moss was the name of the caf. It only had seven small circular tables and two small coffee tables. They got to know all the regulars, as they were regulars by now. Nobody there knew them from before, and they felt welcome the moment Greta met them. Being the owner she made a norm to always welcome and introduce herself to new costumers. She was Swedish, petit, short hair and very shy and to Alice and Tinas surprise very young to have her own business. But after they started knowing her they understood everything.
Looking at Alice, Tina felt the urge to talk with her. She knew that Alice saw Dana only two days ago, they jumped into each other and that it has been awkward. Tina has been talking with Dana once in a while, even had dinner with her a couple of times but as Dana has been playing tournaments non stop, Tina knew very little about the state of Danas life now. She wanted to, missed her but she was not feeling, or finding the strength to go search for her. She knew that Alice needed her and that Alice was not ready to deal with Danas relationship with Tonya.
Looking at Alice eating her cookie made Tina smile. If their lives werent so pathetic she could laugh at how silly and messy everything was. The always talkative, outspoken, practical joker Alice was now an almost reclusive, quiet friend.
She even started knitting to Tinas surprise. She was doing an article about celebrities top ten favourites hobbies and when she found out that knitting was number three she decided to give it a try. To her own and every body else surprised she was very good at it.
Will you knit something for the baby? Tinas question brought Alice back to reality. Smiling at her she nodded, adding,
White, that way it doesnt matter if its a girl or a boy
Tinas smile made Alices heart jump with joy. After visiting the doctors office were Dr Wilson confirmed Tinas pregnancy and how well her health was, Alice started wondering and worrying about the future.
She knew that Tina didnt mean for her to be worried but knowing, seeing Tinas state of mind, her broken heart and her lost soul, Alice wanted to be there for her.
Its been more than a month since Alice talk with Bette. She still miss talking with her, seeing her but it was too much for Alice to bare seeing, knowing that Bette was with Candance. She knew that it was childish, immature and even selfish but she, not yet, she can not forgive or even forget Bettes betrayal.
Alice knew that it was not fair to blame Bette for everything that was going on but deep down Alice knew, always did, that it has been Bette the one that open the door to let everybodys fears fly free, she opened Pandoras box and messed all her friends lives.
Bette did the unimaginable, she cheated on Tina and with that she broke Tinas heart. Braking Tinas heart she made everybody realize, not realize but remember, that life is fragile, its not endless and that we have to take care of it.
Bettes betrayal made Alice think about love, life and friendship. Bettes actions made Alice to choose her priorities. She faced her own life and decided, the day after kissing Dana and the moment she realized that Dana was not leaving the cat killer, that in her life, in Alices life, friendship was going to be a priority.
Looking at Tina, Alice realized that she made a good choice. Her friendship with Tina, and Shane was what was keeping her alive. Her friendship with Bette, even when it was still very important, was not a priority at the moment.
Alice choose to survive, and while doing that she knew that surviving for her meant helping Tina, being there for her and for Shane, and in a small degree trying not to lose Dana. That last part was being the most difficult for her, and she knew she was not succeeding but she comforted herself knowing that she didnt have many opportunities with Dana almost always out of the city, even out of the country.
Making decision was what ruled Alices life now. It all started with Bettes decision. She chose going back to the carpenter and with that she made a decision that changed all her friends lives.
Alice didnt want to let others decisions rule her life again so looking at Tina now, she decided that whatever happen in the future, she was going to be there for her and for the baby. She wanted to, she needed to.

Friends ,sometimes you can’t live with them and can’t live without them, Bette is missing so much.Sheknows this but doesn’t know the cure.thanks for the story
I’m not sure they would’nt fight harder for there friendship. Please go on.
Just my Opinion……..This is probably how S2 will go. I do hope Bette doesnt lose her life suppport, without friends you have nothing. More please
I have said this before and I will say it again: Alice, not Bette, nor Jenny is the center and heart of this show. Your right on the money with this story. She’s the glue, and eventually, she will be the one to pull them all back together, piece by piece! Now I wonder if IC knows this…. ?
Alice is such a good friend…I really do hope that she is there for Tina in every aspect of her pregnancy.
Sorry I didn’t comment on the last 2 chapters, I just started reading this story. I really like the direction this story is going. It shows that sometimes friendship is the most important thing in our lives. Alice proves that by being there for Tina in her time of need and Tina is very lucky to have a friend like Alice. Great job and I can’t wait to read what you have in store for us.
Luv your stories. I love Alice. Its’ wonderful how she’s always there for Tina and the others.
I haven’t read the S2 Spoilers. I agree with BTLuver – without friends you have nothing. Great writing. Keep this up.
I agree with Shaz; Alice is the centre of the universe… she’ll fix things, somehow…
*stamps foot* I JUST WANT THEM ALL TO BE HAPPY TOGETHER NOW
