"Ok, I get that, but you’re still biased.  You don’t consider the opposite sex as an option so….you’re contradicting your own ideas."

"I’m sorry that’s just how I feel.  You said I could be honest."

"Don’t say you’re sorry.  You don’t have to apologize for your feelings."

"So what about you, Tina?  What’s it like for you….being with a man?"

"I guess I don’t know.  Of course, I’ve dated guys."

Bette smiled, "Of course."

"Nothing serious, though."

"You’re not answering my question."

"Well, I don’t know.  It’s ok, I guess.  I mean, I’ve fooled around before but…"

"Wait, are you trying to tell me you’re a…….virgin?"  Tina’s blush was enough of an answer.  Bette smiled, this was definitely intriguing information, it made her remember Alice’s warning not to corrupt the straight girl but a virgin… now  that would be deliciously wrong, she mentally scolded herself for her moment of impure thoughts, "Bad Bette, bad." 

"How old are you?"

"Just turned 21 last month."

"And you’ve never been with anyone?" 

"Well, technically, no, but as I said I’ve messed around. Mostly hand stuff but anyway from my limited experience I can still say I have been turned on boys.  I think it has more to do with the person."

"So you’ve never thought about being with a woman?"

"Not in the sense you mean.  Like not with careful consideration.  But if a woman were to come along that interested me, I don’t think I would deny it.  I don’t like to label myself."

Bette shrugged, "Maybe you’re Bi."

"I don’t know maybe.  I’m comfortable without categorizing it.  I guess it’s just up to other people how they perceive me."

"Yeah, but it’s human nature to put labels on.  I guess it’s a control thing, you know?  Like the more you can organize or compartmentalize something the better you can understand it or it makes you more comfortable with it because it’s identifiable. It’s easier to handle…easier to process." she paused," whatever I’m not making an sense, “ Bette laughed realizing she had been making little box shapes with her hands as a means of description.  She felt Tina was looking at her like she had the inability to talk or convey a thought without using her hands, she suddenly felt nervous.  Tina was actually watching Bette’s animated hand gestures and appreciating the brunette’s passion for thought.  She smiled , "I really enjoy talking with you Bette."

"Me too, I feel like I learned alot about you."  Tina smiled as she started putting the rest of her belongings into place.  Bette lay back on her bed and thought about Tina.  She was really starting to like her and she wasn’t sure what that meant.  Her only hope was that Tina felt the same.
