Truth Be Told; #05
Shane and Helena walked into Gen’s office. “How’s it coming along?” Shane enquired, “I hope Agent Porter has been playing nice.” Gen smiled, “We’re getting along well, just thinking of heading to the NYU campus to have a look around.” “That would be a splendid idea,” Helena said, “You and Gen should go and see if you can get any leads. Report back if you find anything.” Bette picked up her notes, “My car is this way,” she told Gen, “I’ll drive.”

Gen quietly followed Bette, admiring the way she walked in her black pointed heels. Her body seemed to sweep across the floor so gently, she looked like she was gliding instead of walking. They loaded up into Bette’s black Porsche Cayenne and Bette backed out of the lot. They sat in silence. Gen starred out the window as the sunlight poured in when they exited the car park.
This might be harder than it seemed, Gen thought. She had never been put in this situation before. She caught a glimpse of Bette from the corner of her eye, she had put on her aviator sunnies.
Gen had graduated the top of her class, valedictorian in fact. Majoring in Criminal Psychology and Anthropology, Gen had never been known to get distracted. Her stubborn ambitious character always made it easier for her to separate her emotions from her work. So what was it about her that made me feel this way, Gen asked herself.
Bette was glad that she had left her sunnies in the car, they were good for hiding behind, especially when she was subconsciously trying to look at Gen. If this was the game she wanted to play, she had no complaints. Maintain professionalism at all times, Bette thought, not a problem for me at all.
They soon drove onto the NYU campus and walked towards the main administration building. Before they managed to enter, they were greeted by a girl with raven black hair. “Hello, you must be the team they sent from the FBI,” she said, not quite looking them in the eye, “Agent Peabody called the admins office earlier to say that you would be coming,” the girl rambled on, “Dean Lerner is currently tied up in a meeting, but I’ll let her know you’re here.”
