True Love Is Always the Best – A Sequel CH 4

The sun was beating down gently on Bette and Tina as they stood atop the world in their own little haven. Bette grinned as she watched Tina take in the sight before her. On one side was miles and miles of city, hustling and bustling below them but up where they stood, there was nothing but silence. On the other side was the waterfront, a beautiful sight of skyline with the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean. The sight was truly breathtaking.

    How did you discover this?

Bette chuckled as she took Tinas hand and slowly led her across the roof they were on towards another building down the block. As they walked she told Tina her story.

When I first moved here I was going crazy. As much as I love the city life, New York was a bit much for me and I was lonely too

She paused at this thought as if remembering a bad dream but before Tina had a chance to ask Bette just shook her head and continued.

Anyways, as I was saying, I was lonely and this city never really felt like home. Well one day I just walked up to the roof of my building and was amazed at how different the city looks from up here. I started coming up to the roof almost every day and I still do once a week or so. Its kind of a nice reminder that in all the craziness things can still be simple.

Tina watched Bette talk about her little discovery and once again Tina was truly taken aback. Bette was never one for the sentimental things, the cute little things that Tina always pointed out, not Bette Porter. Well not HER Bette at least. This Bette seemed different and Tina couldnt put her finger on exactly what it was but she loved it.

    Come on T

Tina smiled at Bette as she followed her from one rooftop to the next. Tina was in heaven as they walked along the buildings looking at the little gardens and things people had on their roofs. Theres not a lot of places in New York that you could do this for such a distance, and Tina was truly happy just being with Bette and looking at plants. Bette pointed out little idiosyncrasies about each of the buildings and Tina just laughed wholeheartedly at the little comments being made. This was reminiscent of one of Tinas favorite movies and just as she was about to mention it Bette did something that made Tina crack up laughing. Bette had jumped up on one of the little stoops on the roof and started singing.
