    Alice to the rescue

    PREVIOUSLY

    Tina put all her might into getting out of Bettes hold. She put her hand on the doorknob and opened the door as she heard a thud on the ground. She turned around one last time to see Bette on her knees crying. She was in the puddle of wine, which would permanently stain her white pants for sure. Bettes tears caused ripples in the puddle and the sight of that made Tinas heart break. As much as she wanted to stay the night in Bettes arms in their home and start their life together again she just wasnt ready to. She closed the door behind her and whipped out her cell phone.

    Hey Al.

    Tina! Whats going on?

    Nothing. Umm do you think you could pick me up? Im at Bettes and I need a ride back to Helenas. Im sorry to bother you but I have no one else to call.

    No problem. Im actually a couple of blocks away; Ill be there in a few.

    Thanks Al.

    Tina hung up and walked away from the steps. She stood on the sidewalk behind a bush so that if Bette was to come outside she wouldnt see her. When Alice pulled up she sighed with relief.

    Alice rolled down the window and said, Im here to pick up a very pregnant lady.

    Oh that would be me, Tina said smiling as she entered Alices silver mini cooper.

    Is Bette home? Alice asked noticing Bettes car in the driveway.

    Tina hesitantly answered, Yes

    Is everything alright? Did you see her?

    Yes, but things are complicated. I couldnt ask her for a ride. Sorry.

    I dont care about picking you up, but is she like in there on the verge of suicide? You seem kind of upset too.

    Tina breathed deeply wondering what if Bette was to hurt herself and she was to blame. I dont know how she is.

    Ill be right back. Alice got out of the car and walked right in the house. She started to call out Bettes name but she saw the woman lying there with her face in a red puddle with glass all around. Alice was frightened at this sight.

    Bette lifted her head and mumbled, Tina?
