To Live Again, To Love Again Chapter 7

She went to the kitchen and fixed her self a sandwich.  Turning on the stereo she found a station she like and settled in for the evening.  She was so happy with how things were going; she was trying to remember when she had last felt this good. It had been a long time, but she would bet the last time she felt this wonderful had to have involved Tina.

She got busy with her work.

Tina in the mean time was starting dinner.  Sarah arrived right on time and greeted Tina with a kiss.  Tina told her to relax while she went to finish dinner.   Sarah followed her wanting to watch her in the kitchen.

Sarah:  “Mm smells so good, what are we having?”

    Tina:  “Lasagna.”

    Sarah:  “My favorite.”

Tina:  “Yes, I know, just for you.”

Sarah came around and hugged Tina from behind.  She then kissed Tina on the back of the neck.

Sarah:  “I love it when you wear your hair up.  I get access to this beautiful neck.”  She nibbled on the side on Tina’s neck, knowing just the spot to hit.

Tina:  “If you keep that up, dinner will never get done.”

Sarah:  “Well I am hungry, so I’ll stop for now.”

Tina:  “I promise to remind you where you left off after dinner.”

    Sarah:  “Ok, that’s a deal.”

Sarah gave her one last kiss and went to sit and watch her cook.  She grabbed them both a glass of wine and was sipping hers when she saw the flowers.

Sarah:  “Where did the flowers come from?”

Tina blushed slightly but her back was to Sarah so she didn’t think she noticed.  She had taken the card and hid it in her bedroom

Tina:  “Oh, I saw them at the grocery and picked them up, I thought they were so beautiful.”

Sarah:  “They are, just like you.  Beautiful.”

Tina:  “Are you flirting with me?”

Sarah:  “Every chance I get.”  Sarah laughed as did Tina.

Sarah was quiet for a while and she knew she had to ask.  It was killing her to know.
    Sarah:  “So how was brunch?”
    Tina:  “Good.”
Sarah:  “Good, that’s it.  Are you going to tell me what went on with Bette?”
Tina:  “We had a nice visit.  Just catching up, talking about the girls and jobs and stuff.”
    Sarah:  “Really, nothing else?”
Tina:  “What do you want to know Sarah, just ask?”

Sarah:  “Ok, i will.  Am i going to have to compete with Bette for you?  Is she here in town to get you back?”
Tina:  “Sarah, don’t worry.  We want to try to be friends again,  thats all.”

    1. But we know that Tina is not just seeing things as she wanted them to be… And we also know that Sarah never stood a chance against our Bette. I’m glad that Tina wants to be honest with Sarah about her feelings for Bette. Keep up the great writing, goldfish.

    2. OMG Gold…Bette is courting Tina “old style” LOL and Tina is letting Bette in…of course little by little. Tina just wants to make sure Bette really has changed…and she HAS. Glad Tina is going to be honest with Sarah…but Tina’s enjoying herself with both Sarah & Bette until then. Hmmmm…seems like Tina’s changed also. LOL. Please do continue…really do love this story.

    3. Tsk tsk to Tina for leading Sarah on. Poor Sarah’s being so understanding and wonderful. Bette better continuously prove that she’s changed. Thanks, goldie!

    4. Ah, that Goldfish’s touch…
You know, your last chapter was – for me – such a lovely way to link our dear two. That remembered me this so beautiful Peter Ibbetson’s theme : people who truly and deeply love each other can share a place in their minds and hearts, beyond the distances and time… And dreams’ sceneries are such an ideal place to share…
Here, in this new chapter, you brang the theme again and it melts me again :
“She knew so much about her it was if they thought things at the same time. It had always been that way. God she hoped she wasn’t sharing the dream she had during her nap with Bette. She couldn’t let Bette know she was feeling that way ………..yet.”
How lovely is this “… yet” !
      Yes, that’s really the Goldfish’s touch indeed…

Bette’s card was so tenderly written… who could resist to such words ?
“Thank you for being you. And most of all thank you for letting me be me.” The so-called simple things are so often the most essential ones…

Well, Tina gives us a perfect example of how much we can lie to ourselves the same way we lie to others ! If this poor Sarah would have read this “Expecting to see Sarah she was pleasantly surprised to see a young man holding a bouquet of flowers”, she would have a serious reason to worry (“pleasantly surprised” ? My, my, how flattering…)… and I even don’t speak about the sooo good dream ! And the truth about the flowers, of course…
Sarah is understanding and sarcastic, but she has a lack of psychology here. She really don’t need to wonder if she’ll have to “compete” with Bette : it’s so obvious that she should have already prepare herself to fight, from the very moment she knew Tina’s so-called ex was coming back ! And she was so focused on Bette’s way to look at Tina that she forgot to see how Tina looked at Bette…

The way Tina uses Sarah here to “forget her dream earlier”, wanting “her mind to be occupied” (“occupied”… how romantic !), reminds me the way Tina tried to use Helena the same way, in the show, right after her brief encounter with Bette let her pretty confused… This naive attempt to regain a bit of control on a too strong emotional event is a so typical thing – I pretty think everybody can relate to that, at different rates…
By the way, it’s a fact this lovemaking was a pretty one-side one since Sarah was the only one to act when Tina only let things go – without any emotional word depicting it. Linking this chapter with your former one, it’s amazing to realize how a dreamed lovemaking with the person one truly loves can be so much more intense than the real thing with anybody else ! Just the huge difference between making love and having sex…
This parallel is a wonderful work, Goldfish, I love it.

As well as the parallel Tina establishes between what just happened with Sarah and the way it always happened with her Bette…
Something your own subtle choice of words emphasizes so well : the evening with Sarah was “pleasant”, making love becomes a “reward” (!), and finally “it was good”. How exciting !
And then “Tina let Bette slip into her mind” and depiction reaches such an other level : “How do you describe how good it feels?” Words suddenly become unable to depict feelings… God, what a difference ! Depiction becomes pure poetry and everything’s surrounded by true emotions and feelings, around the so beautiful theme of fusion and unity…
No, Sarah, you will not have to compete indeed : there will not even be a competition ! Only the new Bette has to compete with the old one.

Goldfish, you’re more than ever one of the very best authors in this brilliant site. I truly mean it. Thank you so much !!

    5. Thank you for being so honest with the Tina/Sarah relationship. It would be a drag if she was just using Sarah. I’m glad they had something together, something nice, but something that Tina realizes does not compare to her feelings for Bette.

I think it’s realistic that she wants to go slow and be cautious. Thanks!

    6. So charming my friend ….. You are capturing very poignant moments here, doing yourself a great justice, and the characters you wield.
Thank you …….. And the crowd called for more ………….. Encore ….

    7. Wow,,,,,great chapter! Tina is right, she needs to see Bette a couple of more times to see if she has changed. Besides there are many unresolved issues they need to talk about. I think I am going to like when Bette is going to compete for Tina…. Let the games begin!

    8. Wow, I’m impressed that Tina was able to keep Bette out of her mind during sex. However, if she had to keep reminding herself to keep her out she was never really gone was she?

    9. im glad Tina have sure about that ..Bette still the one and sarah never was..and never will..Bette need to show more to tIna and the flowers was a good thing..that BBQ will be interesting 2 in a duel for the lady..lol..another amazing chapter post soon

    10. Finally they slow to a normal rhythm and together they beat…..you know that if one were to stop they both would, you are so in tune to one another.

      Damn…thats breathtaking!

    11. yikes. knowing you love someone else and then sleeping with someone else. say it aint so. does that really happen. lol. lets see if bette has changed. my guess, she really has.

    12. Sad that Tina had to lie about the flower.but she did’t want to hurt Sarah. Sarah will have a hard time at Bettes she will feel like the outsider. Thanks so much for this post.

    13. Tina doesn’t need to tell Sarah anything…she already knows. She has known all along that Tina’s heart will always be with Bette. Sarah is just “milking” Tina for whatever she can get.

    14. Hi goldfish, I just got caught up with this story and love it. I am glad that Tina can first admit to herself that she still loves Bette and secondly realize that there a difference how she feels about Sarah and Bette. I hope that B&T continue to work to restore thier friendship and love for each other. Sarah is really fighting a losing cause and is only going to hurt herself and maybe even Tina. I am looking foward to your next post.
