To Live Again, To Love Again Chapter 5

    The Brunch

Bette woke early.  It was a good thing she did.  It took her an hour to decide on something to wear.  She finally settled on a red tank with her white slacks.  She wore her hair down; she remembered Tina preferred it that way.  With a last look in the mirror she was on her way.

Tina was having a small crisis.  She had put on her clothes she had picked out the night before, and while having her coffee she spilled it down the front of her.  She quickly returned to her closet to find another top.

.  They had decided it was best that Sarah stayed at her own place last night. And Tina was going to call her later after the meeting was over.  She didn’t need her to see how nervous she was about this meeting.  Tina found another blouse in a light blue; it went well with the flowered skirt she was wearing.  She checked the mirror, took a deep breath and headed out the door.

Bette arrived first.  Kit gave her the table in the back that was more secluded than the rest.  She had put fruit and a pot of coffee at the table already.  Bette was so nervous.  She was worried Tina wouldn’t show.  She took a deep breath, closed her eyes and did her mantra in her head.  When she opened her eyes a vision was in front of her.  Tina.

    Tina:  “Hello, are you ok?”

Bette stood up and greeted her.

Bette:  “Yeah, sorry I was calming my nerves.”

Tina:  “You, Bette Porter nervous?”  Tina smiled.

    Bette:  “Only around you.”

They sit down.  Bette turned to Tina.

Bette:  “So do you want to order something?”

Tina:  “Yes, for some reason I’m starving this morning.”

They both ordered a spinach salad with chicken.

Tina:  “I’m glad you’re back Bette.”

    Bette:  “Me too.”

Tina:  “Why did you stay away so long?”

Bette:  “I wasn’t ready to come back to the scene of the crime so to speak.”

    Tina:  “And now you are?”

Bette:  “Yes, I’ve been thru some intense therapy T.  I know why things went bad between us.  I have some answers to why I did what I did.”

    1. Uh oh. I hope that’s not Sarah checking up. Although that would make it easier for Tina to let her go if she becomes the overly possessive clingy girlfriend. I’m so happy Tina sees the change in Bette. Yay for Sunday brunches!

    2. I’m just waiting for those Sunday brunches to turn into romantic dinners, and then inevitabley…breakfast! I love how open Bette is with Tina and how Tina sees the change and likes it–that Porter charm doesn’t ever seem to fade away, does it?! Thanks!!!

    3. Sunday brunches sounds like a plan. Hopefully its not Sarah on the phone, maybe ms. curiostiy, aka Alice. Very good Bette, starting out slowly like friends. Hopefully this will eventually lead to where most of us would like it to go. Bye,bye sarah hello Bette & Tina. We await the next update.

    4. I sincerely think the friendship thing would be good for both of them.

I look forward to them re-developing their connection. I hope they don’t rush headlong into romance.

I also think you should do a sex/love scene between Tina and Sarah. Roust out the TiBetters (of which I am one) and elevate their blood pressures. I’m glad you mentioned that they make love. It’s to be expected if they have a viable relationship going and it lends credibility to Sarah and to Tina.

      Thanks.

    5. …. ooooo ….. more … please !!! They are so sexy together! But then, the course of true love, never did run smooth ! Great job babe ! : ) more ……. lol .. please ? ….. ; )

    6. just caught up fishy. and am loving this. what is with cell phones. does everyone not know how to turn them off. geez. and being friends is a great start. but we have bette. oh did i mention we have bette. need i say more , lol. TECHIE, hell we need to have a visual. isnt it enough to know, yikes, someone elses hands have been on tinas. heehee. fate.

    7. 5 STAR PLUS!!! Goldfish, this is wonderful! They are taking their time, and being honest and up front with each other. It’ll only be a matter of a short period, ’til they realize the inevitable. The little nagging along the way, will eventually lead Tina to send a certain missy on her way. Anxiously awaiting this to unfold.

    8. hopefully this comment brightens your Monday because that is what you have done for mine…this is an awesome story goldfish…so sweet…which makes me wonder if you are as sweet as one of those swedish fish…I do love that orange flavor…is there more space in that goldfish bowl of yours…I would love to see you at work…never seen a fish type before =) while I am lmao, please continue and post soon <

    9. Gold…the honesty in Bette’s words was very touching and amazing. Bette is courting Tina all over again…there’s no way they can’t fall in love again. :-) They are both now who they need to be to be together. I bet that’s Sarah calling Tina. Thanks for the update.

    10. What a marvellous chapter, Goldfish !

Well, well, if Sarah really believes Tina was “strong and very poised” facing Bette, such superficial psychology will not be enough to win the fight ! She’d have to see what’s behind her girlfriend’s quiet mask and follow the first idea she had during their deceptive lovemaking… Hmmm, of course one always wants to be blind a bit when reality is too hard to face.
But, god, I would have be much more upset seing the one I love running this way to the “rescue” of her ex ! *wink*

Tina, Tina… You also blind yourself here ! “Today she was going to show her she was still the one in her life” ? Of course our tender blonde had to act this way, being so unable to hurt someone truly loving like Sarah. But it’s hopeless, Ms Kennard, and deep inside of your heart and mind, you perfectly know it !
Yes, she can jump in any shower with Sarah, we all know where go her thoughts from now… Above all when she immediately let the mask fall as soon as Sarah isn’t there anymore ! (“She didn’t need her to see how nervous she was” : you don’t say…)
Anyway, this naïve and a bit desperate reaction is very realistic and you’re depict it with all your usual touch, talented Goldfish.

“Bette I have always liked you. From the first time I saw you I liked you. I would love for us to start over.”
Ah, I adore the way Tina uses this pretty euphemistic “to like” to immediately let the so much righter four-letters l word escape, right after ! SO revealing… That’s lovely !

Bette acts wonderfully here, already showing how she changed on the very best way, sharing her feelings, carefully moving forward one step after the other… I just had a large amused grin on my face hearing her hypocritical “I don’t want to cause any trouble between you” ! (Noooo, of course not, I just want to pack her and send her far across the oceans, as soon as possible !) So cute, our Bette…
The most precious thing, in fact, is that she doesn’t need anything else but to let this so famous Porter charm act ! (The “spell”, as you so rightly wrote !) Well, the way to resist – if you’re anybody else but Sarah ?? No way !

Now, who is on Tina’s phone ? For me, it could pretty be Sarah, worrying about Tina’s brunch… No ?? I wonder !
Unwanted cell phones’ calls are such a blessing for any drama’s cliffhanger, hmm ? *wink*

How I love this kind of story, dear Goldfish, with a slow, sensitive and delicate race, acurately depicting everything, where any simply gesture is meaningful (like Tina putting her hand under Bette’s chin here)… A story to savour – and I’m such an incurable gourmet as a reader !
Thank you SO much for one of my very favorite stories here, currently. You. are. great. I mean it !

    11. frindship is important but it better they not feel so confortable been friends and forget they really LOVE each other and that unpleasant person i mean Sarah have no chance anymore..cant wait for more thanks

    12. Damnit! If that’s Sarah I’m going to be pissed! This is such a good story thus far, I’m truly enjoying where Bette and Tina left off…and where they’ll be going from here.

Please post again soon. Great Job!

    13. This is an AWESOME story. I think T will be handing over her heart again. If all the chapters are as good as these first ones, i’ll keep reading for months. Thanks for taking the time.

    14. Damn that was amazing and beautiufl. Glad they try to become friend first and let see how’s thing go, and Tina can see the change in Bette and she like it. This is gonna be good and let see what’s next, thanks!
