    This Time Around (6)

It was noon and Tina had not heard from Bette.  She wanted to be the bigger person and call her, but her ego stood in the way.  Instead, she decided to call Peter.

"Hey hunny, did you make it to work alright," Tina asked once Peter answered.
"Yea, those extra hours of sleep did the trick."
"Well, I hope everyone felt the same way," Tina responded, implying only one person in specific.
"I think so.  Bette never made it in, though.  I should probably give her a call in a bit to make sure she’s ok."
Instantly, Tina’s mind began to race.  Why had Bette not come in?  More importantly, why had Bette not called her yet?
"That’s interesting.  Well, I have to run, but just wanted to check in with you. I’ll give you a call later," she quickly ended the conversation.
    ______
"Just call her already, Jesus," Alice complained as she made herself a sandwich.  Both women had decided to take the day off and leisurely spend it in Bette’s beautiful downtown brownstone.  It had been months since they had last spent that much time together, and they enjoyed the opportunity to do so any chance they had.
    "And say what?"
"How about, ‘Hey, I think your pretty.  Press the dial pad once if your a big ol’ lezi like me, and twice if you just want to make out with me," Alice laughed as she finished saying it.
"You are so annoying.  It’s no wonder we only spend large amounts of time together once every three months."
"Oh, shut up.  Give me your phone," Alice grabbed Bette’s cell phone as she finished the sentence.  She began typing up a message.  "Last night was amazing.  I want to see you again.  This time, without the interruptions."
Right as she finished typing, Bette heard the sent alert, and grabbed the phone out of her hand.
    "Seriously, Al?! Seriously?"
"Someone had to do it," Alice wrapped up in the kitchen and headed towards the living room.
Though upset, Bette was glad Alice had sent the message.  She would have probably never been as direct, and caused more confusion between her and Tina.  This would give her the answer she needed, regardless of the possible embarrassment a negative response would be.

    1. Hmm. Well, it’s not Peter’s fault that Tina doesn’t know what she wants in life, and Bette made her intentions clear. Tina’d better figure it out sooner rather than later and stop playing with everyone’s hearts… including her own. Thanks for posting. :)

    2. Willing to take advice as to the direction you’d like to see this going in! – just don’t make Tina a total wimp (think how different Tina would be if IFC hadn’t divorced -her- Tina…)

    3. Sometimes in life we are afraid of hurting others and in that process we only ending up hurting ourselves more. For potentially we can not live through someone elses happiness. It only makes us more miserable. I hope Tina tells Peter the truth before it is too late and Bette is gone and no longer interested because of the hurt she had to initially forego to get Tina to be honest with her and herself. Can’t wait for more.

    4. Great chapter. Tina needs to call a halt to this engagement, and stop playing with them she doesn’t want to marry peter, she wants Bette period. As for telling you about your story, just let your characters lead you they will tell you where they want to go. No matter how you try to ignore them and write what you want, they will not let you ignore them, you will write what they are telling you. Its not hard, try it. The bottom line, they want to be together and Tina thinks she needs to be, for want of a better word, in a “normal relationship,” because she is uncertain of what others will say. Thanks for posting.

    5. Oh wow, loads of drama… I feel bad for Bette, she puts her self out there twice now and both times knocked downt by Tina :( …Hope the next chapter has Tina making up her mind,I’m even feeling bad for Peter.

    6. This is going to get messy, Tina should have never let it get this far…….with Peter and Bette being good friends thats going to be hard great update thanks pps

    7. Honestly, I don’t want this Tina anywhere near Bette. What an idiot – got pissed off because Bette was with a friend while she herself is happily dating/sleeping with a guy? And what the hell does she want from Bette now when she just said she loved him? Huh? Let her marry the dude and give Bette a normal gf, or bring back Jodi.

    8. I HAVE to have more! This is getting good! Tina can’t expect for Bette to wait by while she makes up her mind (even though I bet Bette would). She deserves better than what this Tina is doing to her. Thanks for posting.

    9. Wow, that is one wicked game Tina is playing. Granted she’s confused but she can’t keep playing with Bette and Peters hearts in this way. On the other hand if Tina would just sleep with Bette already I don’t think she’d have a single doubt left about who she wants to be with (lol) great update, post soon.
