The Triangle of Love – Chapter 4

Dana woke the next morning, forgetting what had happened last night. She panicked as she quickly sat up and looked around. Suddenly, she remembered what had happened. She turned her head to see Lara standing at the entrance to the living room, leaning on the doorframe as she watched Dana.

    Lara: It’s about time.

    Dana: What time is it?

    Lara: Time you got up.

Dana: Fine I’ll find out myself.

As Dana went to get up off the couch, Lara walked over to her, pushed her back down onto the couch with her hands on her shoulders. She climbed onto the couch and straddled Dana, holding her in place. Just as Dana was about to protest, Lara closed in on her, forcing her into a kiss. Dana opened her mouth and allowed Lara’s tongue inside. Their tongues played around while Lara began moaning softly. However, Dana didn’t feel a thing. No butterflies. No passion. No desire. Just nothing. Lara sensed the lack of retaliation from Dana and backed away. She got up from Danas lap and stared at her. She was now standing over Dana, with a frown.

Lara: Tell me you felt something.

    Dana: I can’t.

Lara: What happened, Dana? My kisses always got you wet. That was the one thing that guaranteed sex in the morning.

    Dana: I don’t know.

Lara: So you felt absolutely nothing? For me, I felt everything. But you?

    Dan: I felt nothing.

Lara: You know what, Dana? I don’t know what’s going on with you but maybe you should leave. You clearly don’t want me and I was willing to give it to you on a plate just then. What more do I have to do to make you happy?

Dana: Nothing. I am happy. I just want more.

    Lara: More what?

Dana: Okay, you know what? You don’t fucking understand!

Tears were now streaming down Danas face as she finally let it all out.

Dana: You don’t understand how hard it is for me to let myself go. I can’t do that. I’m still in the closet. Coming out would ruin my career, my relationship with my family. I have no dating experience whatsoever and yet you expect me to believe you’re the one? How can I do that when I haven’t had anyone else? What if I develop a crush on someone else? Or if I fall in love with someone else? I wouldn’t know how to deal with that. I haven’t experienced the single life, meeting new women and seeing what they’re about. What if I enjoy someone else making love to me? You’re experienced, Lara! You have me love but it’s not enough for me. This is going to sound really harsh but I think I settled for you because you’re the first person to show me affection. You’re the first person to show interest in me for the person I am, not the professional tennis player. I’m sorry Lara but I don’t want to be with you anymore…

Lara: You settled for me? That’s it? im such a fucking mug. I want you to leave.

Dana: You want me to leave my own house? How about you get out?

Lara: FINE! DON’T COME RUNNING TO ME WHEN YOURE FUCKING LONELY DANA!

Dana: That’s not going to happen. Pack your things and leave, please.

Lara: No. I’ll pick them up later. I don’t want to be near you for a second longer.

As Lara turned to walk out of the door, with just her pyjamas on, car keys in hand, she turned one last time to look at Dana, before saying something she didn’t know if she’d regret.

    Lara: Oh and Dana?

    Dana: What?

    Lara: I hate you!

Lara slammed the door shut, startling Dana even though she watched and knew it would happen. She felt guilty for kicking Lara out, but now she was single, she could begin to enjoy her life. She did love Lara, but she felt this was the best thing for the both of them. She began to lie back onto the couch before she noticed the time. ‘Fuck!’. It was 9.35 and she had to be at training for 10am. She began frantically searching for her tennis shorts and tank top, and quickly found her trainers. She didn’t have time for even a quick shower so she had to settle with just brushing her teeth and brushing her hair. She was out the door by 9.45, meaning she had to take the car if she wanted to be on time. She jumped into the car and set off as quickly as possible, making it there with just 3 minutes to spare.

    1. I think Dana is right, she can’t pretend something that she doesn’t feel, but Lara has a point, Dana practically used her for her first experience with women, even if it wasn’t her intention; those things happen and it hurts but it’s not the end of the world, life keeps going. Nice Amber.
