The Triangle of Love – Chapter 14

Alice had a confused look on her face.

    Alice: Why not?

Dana: You wouldn’t be able to get in.

Alice: What are you talking about?

Dana: Alice, are you sure you didn’t get amnesia? Your apartment is on the 4 floor, the lift doesn’t work, meaning you’d have to take the stairs. Now, I may be goofy, but I’m pretty sure a person in a wheelchair wouldn’t be able to get up them, let alone someone who can’t even control the thing.

Alice: Hey! I can control my wheelchair, it just doesn’t like you, and so it goes AWOL every time you come near it.

Dana: Yeah, yeah, the feelings mutual, simply because you have to use it.

Alice: Well you’d better get used to it; I don’t think Freddy will be leaving us anytime soon.

Dana: Freddy? Al, you named your wheelchair?

    Alice: Yeah, why not?

Dana laughed at Alice, and again, she felt herself fall even more for her, if it was even possible, at the typical Alice thing to do.

Alice: Dane, I understand why you want to go to your place.

    Dana: You do?

Alice: Yeah, I mean I wasn’t thinking about my apartment. I just figured when I said home, you would take me home.

Dana: Well, from now on you can consider my house your home. Unless you don’t want to, I mean it’s up to you but…

    Alice: Dana, let’s go home.

Dana smiled at Alice, kissed her hand she was holding and began to drive to Dana’s house, their home. When they arrived, Dana helped Alice in first. She got her wheelchair out of the boot of the car and set it up. She put it at the side of the passenger door and picked Alice up. Alice was grateful Dana was a professional athlete, as it meant she was strong enough to pick Alice up without the fear of falling. She carefully placed Alice in the wheelchair and she wheeled Alice in and left her by the doorway, while Dana ran back to the car to get the rest of Alice’s belongings, such as clothes she used in the hospital, and many items the Doctors had given them, such as cast treatment and cream for Alice’s scars. Dana locked the car and went back to Alice. She unlocked the house and they went inside. Alice had been here many times, hell she had even had a one night stand in Danas house, but this time, walking into the house, it felt different. It was now her home, and Dana was there too. She decided she wanted to spend the rest of her life with Dana. She couldn’t hold back any longer. Alice wheeled herself to the couch and called for Dana. Dana entered the living room and Alice motioned to say she wanted to sit on the sofa. Dana, once again with ease, lifted Alice into her arms, careful of her ribs that were still sore, and placed her gently on the couch. She was about to walk back into the kitchen, but Alice grabbed her arm and pulled her so she was sitting by Alice’s side. This was the first chance they had at holding each other, and Alice didn’t want to wait a second longer, and since she couldn’t lean forward without the risk of falling over, she simply held her arms out for Dana. There was no hesitation on Dana’s part. She shuffled forward so she was closer to Alice and allowed Alice’s arms to wrap around her waist, her own arms wrapping around Alice’s neck. This simple gesture sent shockwaves through the both of them. Of course, they’d hugged before, they’d even cuddled together when watching movies, but now, knowing what they know about the way the other feels, it was different, good different, and neither of them wanted to be anywhere else. They stayed that way for what seemed like forever, until Alice moved her head slightly, so her face was now in Dana’s neck. Dana could feel Alice’s breath on her neck and it was giving her goose bumps. Alice knew the effect she was having on Dana and if she doubted Danas love for a second before, she was absolutely certain it was there now. Knowing this gave Alice the courage to ask Dana an important question. She lifted her head slightly so she could speak into Dana’s ear.
