    “Oh, no.” Tina points her finger at her wife. “You rolled on top of me as soon as you got into bed Porter.” “I don’t remember it that way.” Bette smirked as she turned back to her notepad. “Yeah, I bet you don’t.” Tina kissed her wife on the cheek. “Ah,” Bette said aloud, “One

    “Oh, no.” Tina points her finger at her wife. “You rolled on top of me as soon as you got into bed Porter.”

    “I don’t remember it that way.” Bette smirked as she turned back to her notepad.

    “Yeah, I bet you don’t.” Tina kissed her wife on the cheek.

    “Ah,” Bette said aloud, “One more for today.”

    “So,” Tina gets back to the issue at hand, “We finally kissed goodnight and went to sleep after midnight.”

    “Yeah, but I gave you a kiss on the head when I spooned you before we fell asleep.”

    “Right, right.” Tina agrees. “Then I kissed you awake in the morning.”

    “Yeah,” Bette marks the notepad. “And how many kisses did we share before we got out of bed?”

    “Are we talking about kisses on the lips or the ones on other parts of the body?”

    “Tina!” Bette shots her wife a look. “Babe, let’s just stick to the normal types of kisses. Okay?”

    “Spoilsport.” Tina chuckles.

    “We have to be prepared for our interviews babe.”

    “Interviews?” Tina pulls back and looks at her wife. Confused. “What interviews?”

    “The ones we’ll have to give when we pass this guy in leave him in our dust.”

    “Oh, those interviews.” Tina laughs. “How about we do the calculation first babe?”

    “Right, back to work Kennard.” Bette directs.

    “So say we had 6 kisses before we got out of bed yesterday morning.” Tina estimates.

    “Six?” Bette frowns. “Just six?”

    “Kay, how many do you think?”

    “At least a dozen.” Bette answers emphatically.

    “A dozen?”

    “Absolutely.”

    “Okay, so that’s 12.” Tina accepts her wife’s count. “So how many more do you think we had yesterday morning?”

    “Are we counting the ones in the shower and the kitchen and the laundry room and…”

    “Stop, babe. Stop.” Tina placed her finger on Bette’s lips, silencing her wife. “Okay, okay. We kiss a lot. I get it.”

    “Yeah, we do.” Bette kisses Tina’s finger.

    “So let’s say another 50 by dinner.”

    “Too low.”

    “How about 75 by 7pm?”

    “Round up.”

    “80?”

    “Sounds about right.” Bette agrees. “Okay, so from midnight to 7pm we had about 92 kisses.”

    “Right.”

    “Two at dinner.”

    “Only two?”

    “Yeah, remember Angie was still home.” Tina reminds her wife. “She didn’t leave until after 7.”

        This story actually stemmed from a scene I was going to include in another short story. This was marked to be just a paragraph in that story & then I thought – ‘this could be more than just a couple of sentences’.
        So I flushed it out more & tried to give it a light, funny side.
