“You are amazing. Thank you. And thank you for my gifts. Angie and I were just studying your painting. It’s incredible.”
Helena smiled. “Thanks. I hope you enjoy it.”
“More than you can imagine. But Helena, you didn’t have to do this. A simple phone call would have been sufficient.”
“I know. But I wanted you to come home to something special. And I wanted to make sure you always remember this day.”
Bette sighed. “I will always remember it. When did you find the time to do this painting?” she asked, her eyes studying the 12 x 18 inch image.
“That’s a trade secret,” Helena replied with a chuckle.
“Thank you again. I really appreciate it. And Angie thanks you, too.”
“How did everything go? Give me details.” Helena prodded.
“Are you sure it’s not too late for you?” asked Bette.
Helena was in New York on business, working with another client. Given the hour in Los Angeles, Bette knew it must be approaching bedtime for Helena in the Big Apple.
“Nonsense. Details. Please,” Helena repeated.
Bette filled her in on the happenings of the day, including the celebration at the Planet. Helena discussed her day spent with Wilson and Jun Ying and her schedule for the next day which was packed with meetings, artwork reviews, and schmoozing.
When their call ended, Bette was still smiling and the part of her that had been missing her dearest friend was now calmed and settled.
Time lurched forward and as the weeks passed Bette found that her interactions with Tina became easier and easier. Talking was easier. Smiling was easier. Laughing was easier. They didn’t discuss Tina’s heartfelt confession and the blonde had finally reined in her traitorous tongue enough to keep from saying anything further. Bette knew that the onus was on her to finalize the hanging threads between them, but she wasn’t yet prepared to do so.
As Bette and Tina rebuilt their relationship, Bette’s friendship with Helena continued to grow. After her time in New York, Helena landed in Chicago and then in Scottsdale. Her results were steadily superb and her reputation within Jai Laurant’s client base was growing. She was pleased with her progress and regular consults with Bette helped keep her on track. She’d nailed down a few apartments and was eager to move out on her own.

“…and the blonde had finally reined in her traitorous tongue enough to keep from saying anything further…” Whoa…now that’s saying something. Helena’s gesture was amazing, Bette’s was even more grand….BUT, OHHHHHHH momma, Tina’s gonna have a fit…looking forward to your update!!!
helena moving in with bette wasn’t the best idea for many reasons…so lets just see what’s going to happen when tina finds out or if belena will be finally born LOL
Tina will be shocked, jealous and livid when she finds out about “The Arrangement”. She won’t know how to deal with it in a calm manner. Please write more. This story is wonderful.
MTS I gotta hand it to you – your new and improved version of Helena is flawless. If Bette doesn’t keep her for herself then she’s going to make another woman very happy some day. I don’t think even Peggy could find fault with her – she’s perfection. I’m surprised Bette took as long as she did to invite Helena to live with her. Just wonder if she’s going to be considerate enough to let Tina know about this ‘friend helping a friend’ out living arrangement. I think just as a courtesy as the now adoptive mother of Angie she should mention it so Tina isn’t caught off guard when she comes to Bette’s house to find Helena in her underwear or when Angie starts talking about Momma H (just kidding) but I do think it would be appropriate to say something even if it’s short term. Have Helena and Bette come out to the rest of the gang as friends yet? It doesn’t seem like they socialize with anyone else except each other, but I guess at this point everyone is kinda doing their own thing. Looking forward to the next episode. Thanks for posting nightly even though you are sometimes busy or exhausted. A lot of us would be disappointed if we didn’t get our daily fix of BeLena and/or TiBette. By the way are Tina and Helena still friends? Might be interesting to see some one on one interactions between Tina and this new version of Helena. Who knows sparks might fly and TiLena could be born. Great story and one of the few where reading the comments are just as addictive as awaiting every new chapter.
I know I sound wishy washy…but this Bette and Helena being friends thing is creeping me out. I’m still reading though. :)
Poor Tina is just breaking my heart. Everyone is coupled up and she’s still hanging all her hopes on Bette. I hope the idea forming in her head is not to try to ‘romance’ Bette with gifts or anything else foolish like that. Tina has to realize that Bette is only interested when she does the chasing or there is a challenge involved in the pursuit. Tina can’t win Bette’s heart by going after it…. Bette’s a smooth operator – now that she’s got legal custody of Angie it’s time to move Helena in. Helena is the perfect ‘Damsel in Distress’. I expected this living arrangement would happen sooner or later so no surprises there…. Helena had the perfect excuse not to be at the party and throwing in the surprise thoughtful gifts and the mention that she was spending time with her own children made it even more endearing – even a cynic like me can’t help falling in love with this Helena. MTS I know its your story and I’m just along for the ride – but if you are taking requests -please let Tina keep her self respect and her dignity. She can do better than this version of Bette Porter if she’d only open her eyes to the possibilities. Looking forward to more soon. I’m with BatnAA_2009 on the request list for a Tina with some self respect and dignity left…Yes, smooth operator Bette observation is quite right…. If there has to be a Belena (HUGE SIGH), i’ll go with the flow even if I’m a tibetter. It’s one thing for Tina to try to fight to make a relationship work or apologise but to fight for a relationship when Bette is so not interested is pretty pointless.
Hm, or maybe Helena staying in her ex-home is what Tina really need as a wake up call that maybe the ship has truly sailed? sometimes it works. Just break her heart and let her a reach the lowest point before she can truly change…hahaha…I’m so sad but I rather just force myself to accept a Belena at this point than to keep anymore hopes alive for a tibette ending. The only hope I harbour is for Tina to become more mature and to grow to find some peace despite not having Bette anymore and for Bette to just forgive Tina and not have so much anger for her co-parents. I like to call things like I see them and Bette & Helena are courting one another. Let’s be honest, you don’t send flowers & candy, cute little notes, nor paint beautiful portraits for your “friend”. I don’t send flowers to my friends unless there’s a death in the family. I might paint stick figures to make them laugh since I’m incapable of painting a beautiful portrait. Anyhow, I digress. If Bette wants to pursue things with Helena, just do it already. But she should first tell the woman she once called the love of her life. She’s been waiting for a month for crying out loud. Despite whatever anger she has, Bette should give Tina at least that much respect. It would be mighty awful for Tina to find out any other way. No one deserves to be blind-sided (since nobody knows except Bette & Helena that they’re spending so much time and now living together), it’s tacky, especially when you know that person has been holding out hope for a reunion. I completely abhor drama and that’s where this is headed if Bette doesn’t just come clean, not only about how she truly feels for T & H, but about her new living arrangement as well. Thanks for the story.

I can’t wait to see Bette’s reaction to what Tina has in mind lol and most Tina’s reaction to the sleeping arrangment. I just can’t wait for your update :) I like the fact that tibette is getting better it’s good for Angelica. Belena is just cute, they are so adorable on this new ground, they don’t want to screw up but I think they won’t coz they talk to each other and it’s great it’s a way to keep honesty and trust. But I hope that whatever Tina would react at the end she would be mature enough to accept it. And for the record for now she has nothing to fear it’s only platonic, they don’t have another plot in their mind.

I love this story! I don’t know what to think anymore. Does Bette really want to get back with Tina or will the living arangement with Helena bring them closer then friends? Can’t wait for more.
So interesting reading the comments from the Bette-ers and the Tina-ers! I’m waffling with my allegiances here – and want the best for both of them and I’m loving how you’ve turned our expectations on their heads. I feel for both B & T, having been in both situations, I think it’s equally painful to be the wronged and the wrong-doer. But both Bette and Tina have played both roles, so its at a stalemate, isn’t it? I agree that Tina is waiting for a version of Bette that seems content to be moving on, and that’s a heartbreaking realization. But I also think Bette has no intention of hurting Tina. Instead I think she seeking in Helena some close friendship with someone she is not afraid of. She loves Tina, I’m sure, but she’s also right to be terrified of her. Excellent writing! PPS!
