The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 6

Previously…
Bette smiled and…led the way to her dark blue Jag, trying not to limp. She didn’t want Tina to feel bad.
Hazel eyes roamed over the blue coupe. “This car is amazing.”
“Thanks,” said Bette, unlocking the doors.
Tina opened the door for her and Bette slid into the black leather seat and rolled her window down. “I really appreciate the escort, Tina.”
“I’m happy to provide it.”
Tina’s eyes met Bette’s dark brown pools. “Don’t be a stranger, okay?”
Bette winked at her. “No worries, T. That will never happen.”
Tina smiled. “T?”
Bette’s smile faltered. “I…I hope that’s okay. It just came out.”
“No, it’s fine. I like it.”
The smile returned full force. “Great. It was good to see you, T. I’ll call you, okay?”
“You better,” she said, before making her way to the curb. She watched the dark blue coupe until it faded from her line of sight.

The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 6
The way Bette had looked at her had made the hairs stand up on the back of her neck. Tina rubbed that spot as she walked away from the curb and back inside the salon. She had a million things to do in order to make it to her parents’ anniversary dinner on time. They were celebrating at the country club with a small army of friends they’d gathered over the years. It was Tina who’d done the work of pulling the event together. It had been somewhat of a welcomed distraction from her job as a film production executive. It had given her a reason to dip out of tense meetings and avoid tantrum-having movie stars. Just the thought of work made her stomach ache. Her doc had called it gastritis and the stress just made it worse.
She popped a few Tums and then tried to relax as her hair was shampooed and conditioned. Her mind kept returning to the dark brown eyes and beautiful smile of the woman she’d mowed down on the sidewalk. I could have really hurt her. I’ve been so scatterbrained lately. Bette Porter, she repeated in her mind. How did she know my nickname?

I’m glad that you gave to us Tina’s side of story. But i really confused – Tina married to Henry? In second time? What happen to Eric?
Great to get to know this Tina. Learing about her life makes me think that Bette can not only improve the situation of “Bette 2019” but of “Tina 2019” as well.
I love that Tina already feels some kind of connection to Bette.
Looking forward to their breakfast meeting :-)
This 2019 update to RoomMates has been an intriguing saga for sure. I’m trying to fill in the blanks and have come to the conclusion that the young Tina was not able to bring herself to tell her parents about Bette and their relationship. So her life continued along the expected path of hetero script. Right????????. and so did Bette’s as she chose Sidney to marry.
Cant figure out in my tale what happened to Eric though????. In my story he had to have made a play for Tina by threatening to “out” her to her parents but then ????? this is where my 2005 version falls apart. Auh well, that’s why U’re the Author ????and me the neurotic reader ????????????
Uhmm it seem Tina and Henry are playing some kind of charades with the family.. they all seem to be wearing a mask at this party… did get to meet sissy but she must be a pill or knows Tina’s secrets. Great phone call giving Tina a bit of a slow burn, my favorite way to have her in. Lol.. thank you
In 2019, Bette and Tina meet for the first time when they bump into each other on the street. This is not a continuation of 2005 but a completely new reality. Bette has transferred from the 2005 reality to the 2019 reality with the memories of 2005. Its going to make Bette look like a lunatic if she explains how she knows Tina’s nickname or even why she is so attracted to Tina. Her best bet is to face today’s reality and figure out how to get Tina into her life. In the meantime, she is still married and so is Tina. This has become a very intriguing story.
Good writing….can’t wait for more.
So intrigued now with this story!
Thanks for posting regularly, loving it!
