It was the two year anniversary, and they were celebrating at the Planet. Shane smiled at her beautiful girlfriend across the room. She watched her laugh and talk to their friends. She took a drink of her beer and turned her attention to Jenny who was talking to her.

“What did you say Jenny?” Jenny laughed softly.

“I said—do you have the ring?”

“Yeah—,” Shane smiled and pulled the box out of her coat pocket. “I’m going to ask her to marry me tonight.”

“Are you going to do it here?”

Shane nodded. “Yeah—I think it will be perfect because she doesn’t know about this.”

“Well—they normally don’t know when their significant other is going to purpose.”

Shane took a deep breath. “I’m nervous. I’m afraid that she’ll reject me.” Jenny rested her hand on her friend’s arm.

“Don’t worry so much—she’ll say yes. I’m positive.” Shane looked at Jenny and smiled. “Congrats.”

“Thank you,” Shane leaned over and gave Jenny a kiss on the cheek. She looked up and saw a mystery woman in the corner, watching Shane’s every move. She took a drink of her beer and looked away. She looked back, and the person was gone. She shook it off and walked towards Carmen. Carmen looked up and smiled at Shane as she approached her.

“Hey baby,” Carmen smiled as Shane planted a kiss on her lips. Carmen rested her hand on Shane’s stomach as they smiled at each other. Bette smiled softly at her two friends as Tina lay against her.

“You two are so cute together. I’m so happy that you guys are still going strong.”

“Thank you Bette.”

“So what are you two lovebirds really going to do for your anniversary?” Tina asked.

“Well—I thought of a few things.” Shane winked at Carmen and held her close.

“Babe—you really need to get your head out of the gutter.” Carmen laughed softly as Shane kissed her cheek.

“I wasn’t thinking about sex, but that’s going to be later.” Carmen rolled her eyes as they laughed. “What I was really talking about was this.” Shane handed Bette her beer, and she grabbed Carmen’s hand. “We’ve been through a lot for our last two years that we’ve been together. I don’t even know how you put up with me, but you stuck it out. I love you so much for that.”
