    The Only Gift

Buying a gift for Tina is the hardest thing in the world. If I ask what she wants for Christmas she tells me, "I already have everything I need."

It’s a sweet sentiment really but I don’t know any other way to celebrate Christmas. I mean we’ve given each other gifts every year for 15 years, why should they change now?

Yeah sure, we have a five year old daughter who’s expecting gifts from us, all her aunts, and Old Saint Nick, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get each other things too.

I was making a list, I was checking it twice
In the middle of this I got tears in my eyes
For in my foolish heart there is one simple truth
The only gift I wanted was you

Christmas is gorgeous in New York. Moving here after Jenny’s funeral had been the best idea. We literally left our entire past behind, even Kelly admitted to Tina that she had drunkenly made a pass at me but nothing happened.

As mean as it sounds, it was nice to be away from all our nosy friends, it actually made Christmas better when they came over. It was a tradition.

Tasha and Alice had moved to Florida because Alice thought it would be safer than LA and Helena, Kit, and Shane still lived in LA. Max went back home to Oklahoma to raise his child and James came to New York with us, he refused to be anyone else’s assistant.

So every Thanksgiving we would all meet in LA at Helena’s place and every Christmas they would all come to New York with us. Every year James, Tina, and Angie would cook the Christmas meal together and I would be the chauffeur who would pick up everyone from the airport.

That’s why the whole gang was complaining as they waited in the van. It was my only chance to get Tina a gift and they had been waiting for half an hour at least.

I was trimming the tree I was stringing the lights
While the radio played silent night
There were presents you sent though they were quite a few
The only gift I wanted was you

Finally the all got down the car and Kit said, "what are you looking for sis?"
