“Shane right?” A skinny young man asks walking towards her.

“Who’s asking?” Shane replies bluntly, she’d learnt early on not to trust strangers.

“I’m Clive” He holds out his hand for her to shake it but Shane doesn’t take her hands out her pockets. “Ok”

“What do you want?” She asks lighting up a cigarette.

“You actually” Shane looks at him confused. “Your poor right Shane, I mean living on the streets, stealing this isn’t the life for you” He states looking round at their few belongings.

“I’m doing just fine” Shane say defensively.

“That’s it you’re doing fine, well how would you like to do better, great in fact?” He asks with a sick smile.

“Look cut to the chase” Shane says taking a deep breath.

“How would you like to earn $100?” Shane’s eyes lighten up at the sound of the money.

“How do I do that?” She says with no emotion in her tone.

“You just have to meet my friend”

Shane knew instantly what he was talking, she looks at the floor sadly.

“You don’t have to answer me now, I’ll come back to tomorrow”

Alex was walking down the tunnel when she saw the man talking to Shane, she knew instantly who he was. He’d been hanging around watching them for a couple of days, she also knew what he wanted.

“Hey fuck off” Alex shouts running towards Shane.

“Hey were just talking” He replies backing away.

“Yeah well talk to this” She says flipping him the finger.

“Think about what I said” He says walking away.

“What’s going on?” Alex asks.

“Nothing” Shane replies putting her cigarette out.

“Well what did he want?” Alex says watching him walk away.

“Trying to flog some stolen goods, said we weren’t interested”

Alex looks at Shane sadly she knew she was lying.

“Ok, fine” She says zipping her jacket up.

 Suddenly a group of boys come out from the shadows and start heading towards Shane and Alex.

“Shit, Shane run” Alex yells.

“What?” Shane says shocked.

“Fucking run” Alex screams running away.
