    CHAPTER 299

    NARRATION OF PRESIDENT BETTE KENNARD PORTER


    Its not the nicest afternoon in more ways than one. This house was just bricks and glass and stuff until Tina came into my life and made it a home. I know she’s spent thousands of dollars changing the colours and re-doing the kitchen and all the other touches that I just take for granted now. We have plans for the gardens and the estate that run into several hundred thousand dollars and that’s because it’s a home. It’s the place where we both feel really safe and secure and its where we both want our family to grow up in. So to be in the house and not be with Tina – be that watching a movie or cooking or just sharing a room while we both do our own things – that is strange and it feels wrong.

    I spend an hour with Ella playing and dancing and relay enjoying being together. She tries to resist it when I put her down for her nap but she falls asleep almost instantly and I sit and watch her and watch the storm outside which is, at last showing signs of abating. Meanwhile Tina is somewhere in the house dealing with the storm that she thought had already blown itself out. After the silence finally gets to me I take the baby alarm and head off in search of Tina.

    One of the first things she had built was a huge conservatory full of plants and comfortable wicker furniture. Its one of her favourite places – it reminds me too much of some childhood nightmares after watching “Day of the Triffid “ for me to be 100% at ease in there but it is a nice place. Tina is cutting down some plant and throwing the leaves onto the ground. There is a roll of black bags on the table so I pull one from the roll and start picking them up. She doesn’t notices me until she throws some leaves aside and one lands in my hair

    “Hey “

    She looks round “ I didn’t see you – where did you spring from ?”

    “I have been picking your mess up for five minutes “

    7. Great chapter as always. Glad Bette sought Tina out and didn’t wait too long to do so and they are talking which is always good. Trying to figure out what is in someone else’s mind is never good. They need to keep talking and loving each other. Having the parents round is a great idea and should serve them well. Rocky, honey you are gonna love the prawns, very large shrimp, at least that is what we call them this side of the pond. Have a great time exploring all the fishiness. Thanks for posting AllyE.     12. Hey Rocky, Ally has allowed Bette and Tina the time and space to work through this issue. Much was said in haste and was hurtful. Healing does take effort and communication. Bette and Tina have been through much that it is pleasing to have them sharing some intimate time with each other and their child. It was interesting to read how Bette is beginning to plan for her return to civilian life especially as it involves Tina’s election to office. I can’t wait to read more.
