    THE L WING

    Chapter 232

     

    Narration of President Bette Kennard Porter

     

     

    I am sitting in my study getting my head around what has happened in the last hour. After some hunting down I find out that the Senior Staffer who has written her resignation letter is Phyllis. She has had some blazing row with Shane who told her that she expected her resignation letter on her desk by 8am tomorrow morning. This is one side of the story – I cannot get hold of Shane to discover the other side because she simply is not answering her phone – and for a Chief of Staff that is pretty much the worst possible crime to be guilty of. Chiefs of Staff have to be available 24/7 – just like Presidents.

     

    My conversation with Phyllis is still going round in my head – she has told me of how unreasonable Shane has become – how she is sidelining JJ and Phyllis and making all the decisions herself. That is just impossible for one person to do the work of all the Senior Staff. I have to act – and what I have to do is pretty severe- I have to think about benching Shane. I hate that prospect – but I am thinking things through and trying to decide what I am going to do for the best.

     

    As I am sitting staring at the whiteness sweeping around outside Tina opens the door and comes in

     

    “Brought you a coffee “

     

    I smile

     

    “Hey there “

     

    She comes in and places the coffee beside me. She walks round and wraps her arms around me – snuggling against my head

     

    “How’s it looking ?”

     

    “Like a freaking mess. Have you managed to get hold of Carmen ?”

     

    “No – you ?”

     

    “No – what the hell are they both ignoring their mobiles for ?”

     

    “I don’t know -but this is looking serious babe “

     

    “Tell me about it – I just listened to a half hour horror show from Phyllis on what a unpredictable pain in

    the ass Shane has become “

     

    Tina kisses my hair and comes round and sits in the chair facing me.

    3. This is gonna be tough on Bette, but she’s heading down the right path to set this all straight. Thanks for the update-looking forward to the next chapter.

    5. I feel sorry for Bette but also for Shane. I hope there is a way back to normal. Thanks for posting. It’s really amazing that after so many chapters a) I am not even a little tired of the story and b)there is so much open that I don’t see a end – and that makes me really happy. Thanks for all you have done and all you will do.
