    The Journey – FINAL CHAPTER

    FINAL CHAPTER

Bette: Sometimes you just know when the time is right, I don’t know how I know now, but I just do, no one told me, Tina and I haven’t discussed it but I am sure we will and I haven’t spoken to anyone in LA about it, I just know the time is right now. I make my way out onto the small jetty and sit with legs hanging over the edge looking over at the shack. The sky is clear, a bright blue and the water is glass. Even in the winter season here you can get days like that. The water is not deep and I see through to the sand on the bottom. I swing my head up and around look out over the bay and see the national park. I’ll miss this place I say out loud to only myself. I look back around towards the shack and give a rye smile and a small laugh thinking about all the good and the bad that we’ve been through here. I see Tina walking along the beach holding Jennifer while Laurel runs free, careless waving the picnic basket in the air as she runs. I wave at them and realise it must nearly be lunch time already. That’s one of the things about here, no noise and time seems so unimportant. Tina makes her way onto the jetty and Laurel plays in the sand just below us.

Tina: “hey baby” as I lean in and Bette a kiss

Bette: “hey you” and I stand up to meet Tee and take Jennifer out of Tina’s arms to give her a rest. I can see that Tina, organised as ever has bought a little tent to shade Jennifer when she is in her basket. “Sorry I must have been out here a long time.”

Tina: “Shhh, no need to be sorry, it’s a beautiful day, let’s enjoy it” as I put Laurel in her basket and pull the shade over her.

Bette: Tina sits behind me holding me, our legs hanging off the end of the jetty. I can feel her chin on my shoulder. God, how I love it. I love that she holds me, once upon a time it would have always been me holding her.

    3. They are home at least in their hearts. When they get to the house that they call home their hearts would have already reached that state and they can build upon that foundation. I am sad that you will be taking a break but understand that life takes precedence over FF. I hope that one day you will return to FF and make my Tibette soar again.
