Bette stood up and turned off the PC. Yes she just pushed the off button. Everyone just looked at her. She stood up, walked out and was gone, without as much as a bye nor leave..


Shane: what the ***** was that all about

Alice: ***** knows..but if I know Porter, and I do know Porterwe havent heard the last of Scotland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lets finish up here and go to the Porter household. I have a feeling that Bette knows something/someone that we dont.

The gang drank up, jumped into Alices mini and headed off to find one Ms Porter!

As Bette arrived at her house she noticed that there was a lot of activity within Tinas home. She thought about going over for a look but thought better of it. She went inside, changed into her swim suit and chilled by the pool. Her mind wondered to Tina and the Planet. Bette knew that the feelings she had for Tina were not the same ones she had for the countless women she had slept with or even wanted to sleep with. There was something about this woman that had hooked and grabbed Bette by the heart. *****, thought Bette. How can this be? I have spoken to her for 5 mins and look at me. I have no idea what she looks like, what she is like as a person, why she is coming to LA, what she wants in life and what the ***** happened in the Planet? Why did I walk out like that? Jesus, they made me feel like a jealous school girl. *****, this is going to be one long week Porter. Forget Tina and get some rest.

Just then the doorbell goes. Great, thought Bette. As she got up and opened the door she saw her friends. The woman looked at each other. Alice broke the silence.

Alice: well ***** Porter, nice swim suit. Got one my size?

Bette moved aside to let the woman in. They made their way outside to the hot sun. As they sat down the phone rang.

Bette: *****, what now. Bette was annoyed at having to get up again and was dreading the questions that her friends were about to ask her.

Bette: (very annoyed and with horrible tone), BETTE PORTER.

The gang cringed.

Tina: oheh.hey Bette its Tina, Tina Kennard.(bloody ***** have I woke her up or is she annoyed with me for disturbing her AGAIN?)

Bette: TINA!………. oh *****, Im sorry..so sorry (***** Porter, be nice and dont ask any questions this time).how are you.(God, please let her be still coming over here)

Tina: Im fine. Are you ok?

Bette: Yes, yes. Just ..eh (Bette was smiling from ear to ear and this had not gone unnoticed by her friends) .I was just sitting by the pool thats all.

Tina: oh lucky you. Its so cold over here. Never mind..next week and I can throw my jumpers away and wear my swim suit.

Bette: (thats what I was thinking, she thought). Can I do anything for you?

Tina: eh..well..the girls and I start our journey to LA today. We are going to London for a few days to stay with a friend. ( a friend thought Bette, *****)..then we fly to NY and then after 2 days onto you.I mean LAto LA I mean( stupid arse Tina told herself)

Bette: (smiling at what Tina just said, and again the smile did not go unnoticed), oh.whos your friend(***** Porter), ..sorry that was rude of me

Tina: no no its ok. Its Elizabeth, my bridesmaid. She lives there now and well she doesnt know about Eric and I and I feel that I should tell her. Look, the reason Im calling is to give you my mobile number incase anything goes wrong with the house and you need to contact me. (Tina was blushing and hoped that Bette would accept her number). You dont have to take it

Bette( glad about Elizabeth), oh fantastic. Yes I would love to take your cell number

Tina: what? Cell number..oh you mean my mobile..looks like I will have to get up to date with some new words. Tina blushed again and gave Bette her number. Bette typed it straight into her cell phone and saved it as T!

Bette ok thats that. Can I do anything else for you Tina?

The gang looked at each other in total amazement. What the ***** is going on and who is Tina? Alice began to let her mind go into overdrive.

Tina: no, thanks Bette you have done enough already. I hope all Americans are as helpful as you. If so I know that I will love LA.

Bette( smiling to herself as she knows she has helped and gained Tinas trust)yes we all are, well those of us who are not politicians.


The 2 women laughed at the joke. Tina then said:

Tina: Bette I should get going now. Our plane is in 4 hours and I have to say goodbye to my mum, dad, brothers and sisters. Thankfully we did Eric last night. This is really hard and the girls are upset. Dont think I can face my dad, my mum knows why I have to go though. (Tina was unsure as to why she had told all of that to Bette. It just seemed natural talking to her).

Bette( ***** I never thought of her leaving everyoneBette felt bad for not thinking about Tina in that way) oh Tina Im sorryhonest if you need to chat..here is my cell number. (Bette gave Tina her number and Tina saved it under B!)

Tina: thanks Bette. I have a wee feeling that we could be good pals.

Bette: pals?

Tina: oh, friends I mean.

Bette: Oh right( blushing with a goofy smile, again not unnoticed), looks like I have some Scottish words to learn too.(at that Alice smiled!!!!!!!!!)

The 2 women said bye and hung up. Tina took a deep breath and locked the door to her house. Emma and Lucy were in the car. As Tina got in they asked who she was talking to. Oh our new neighbour, said Tina with a smile on her face. I think she sounds nice

Emma: do you think she likes children mum?

Lucy; do you think she knows where all the good sweetie shops are mum?

Tina: ( with a warm feeling inside her, that feels nice but causes her to wonder why). Yes Im sure she knows everything and will delight in showing us the sweetie shops Lucy. And Emma, what is there not to like about children, right.

Emma: right mum!

The 3 of them said bye to Glasgow, their parents and grandparents, aunties and uncles, brothers and sisters. There were raised voices and lots of tears and then they were gone.
