    The Gathering 01.82 – Life’s Folly pt 1 – Puppet Master

“I got into you, if I remember correctly.”  Bette answered sarcastically and Tina laughed hard, pulling her into her arms and Tina lay on her back, with Bette cradled in her arms.

“Stop being so glib.”  Tina snorted and Bette rested her head on her chest, looking up at Tina‘s face, loving the look of afterglow in her skin.

“Can I ask you a question?”  Bette asked, getting serious for a moment.  Tina nodded and wondered what she was going to ask, because the look on her face betrayed her.  Bette had shifted from playful to serious in a heart beat.  “You cannot get mad at me, ok?  I’m just curious, and since you asked me, I was thinking it was ok for me to ask you.”  Bette stammered and Tina waited for her to continue.  It was unlike Bette to be at a loss for words.  After a long moment Bette finally asked.

“Why?  Why Sam?  Why not Alice, or Shane or Dana?  Someone you’ve been close to for longer?”  Tina sighed, and she felt the blood rushing to her cheeks, she tried to turn and avoid answering.  Bette held her down gently waiting for the answer.  She needed this, for some type of closure, for her to finally move on and truly get on with their lives.

“Why not her?  Bette that’s a really tough question to answer.  Did Marty put you up to this?”  Tina asked, desperate to not have this conversation, she wanted this to end.

“I questioned the fact that you felt attracted to someone totally unlike me and he told me to ask you.  I mean there is me and there is Sam, there is nothing alike between us at all.  So I’m asking, that was Marty’s suggestion.”  Bette‘s voice was soft and gently, no anger lingered there.

Tina took a deep breath; and thought about it for a moment.  Then she squinted giving a long look at Bette.  She had a pained looked on her face, and she knew she owed her an explanation for all of the pain she’d forced Bette to suffer.

“I talked to Marty about it too in session.  I guess I saw a professional woman like you.  She was different.  I can’t explain it.  Then there was the fact that I ‘met’ all of you after my amnesia for the first time, and so truthfully I met her the same time I met you.  There was just a spark?  She was there for me when the memory of you cheating came back; it was just timing.”  Tina sighed; looking away from Bette who just ran a hand down her naked torso.  “I held onto the crush for way to long, and kept going back to it when things got harder with us.  Baby don’t.”  Tina said, pulling away, ashamed about her lusting over Sam.  She felt rather childish in her behavior, and she didn’t like that feeling still lingering.
