The Fast and Fevered Fall – Chapter Sixteen

Tina stayed curled up in her chair. She could feel the gentle descent of the plane but wanted to put off the moment when she returned to the ground for as long as possible. As soon as the plane had taken off she felt herself drifting off to sleep. She had rested her head on Helena’s shoulder and given in to the tiredness that she constantly felt. During the flight Helena must have moved though because Tina couldn’t feel the warmth of her body against her now. She cracked an eye open to see if she could see Helena but when she couldn’t see closed her eyes again and thought back to how see had ended up on this plane.

When she had woken in the morning she knew there was something different. For a start she was in her clothes but that couldn’t be what was different, there had been many times that she had been too drunk to bother with the formality of getting undress for bed. She reached over to the empty side of the bed. It was still warm which meant that someone else had slept in her bed last night. Then she remembered. She had broken down in front of Helena, she had cried for all the things that she had lost along the way. Then Helena had held her until she had fallen asleep, and obviously Helena hadn’t moved because Tina could still feel where she had been sleeping.

Tina listened hard to discern where Helena was now. She thought that she could hear movement in the kitchen and silently hoped that Helena was making some coffee. Typically her head was pounding from the night before. It didn’t make any difference how much she drank or how regularly she did it she couldn’t avoid the hangover that came the next day. She tried to swallow the dryness at the back of her throat but her tongue felt like sandpaper. Tina rolled over to lie so that she was facing the door, waiting for Helena’s reappearance. When the door opened slightly Tina couldn’t help but smile, for the first time in a long time she felt like she wasn’t alone.

“Hey” said Tina quietly, suddenly feeling self-conscious over the way that she had cried last night.

    1. Never apologize, never explain. I think this is right up there with “love means never having to say you’re sorry.” If taken literally one may think, “Well that’s pretty dumb!” I have to wonder if Helena meant what she said in the literal sense. I’ve gone off-topic, I know. I’m not holding my breath for a reunion, just that Tina gets her shit together.

    2. Helena’s so sure about herself yet like an indefenseless child and the accent makes her just charming. On with the story, Tina doesn’t have the strength to deal with her issues, fortunately she has her friends.

    3. Another great post CG75! How could you not like someone that has access to a private jet, right? LOL! I’m not really sure about what kind of treatment Tina should seek, but she does need some help…I think the only cure she really needs is the love of one Ms. Elizabeth Porter and having her daughter in her arms again. Love your story CG! More please!

    4. Hels is my girl. Some of it’s the accent, some of it’s that there’s actually a decent heart under the top layer and some of it I’ll just tick the “Other” category. The loyalty thing doesn’t hurt either. Good chapter, good to see Tina making headway. cheers

    5. Yes…Helena makes a good FRIEND please don’t have her with Tina…I want Tina to work thru her problems and try to make it work with Bette. And yes Lamentamini…you went off topic…lol just messing wit cha!

    6. I’m glad Tina is making some good decisions and has such a good friend in Helena. Tina didn’t know what she’d done to Hel back when? Well, add it to the heap of things she has to atone for. I’ll be interested to see Tina’s first meeting with Shane. Probably not a bad place for her to start as she begins her “Reconnect Tour”.

    7. Love this just hope that Tina finds herself. The she might be able to find love again. She needs to love Tina before she can really love and give her heart again thanks

    8. I likeHelena also. But I really Like she & Tina as FRIENDS. But if the story is well written I’ll read it and take the ride. This is as always very well written. Thanks for taking the time.

    9. Thank god that you wrote a Helena that can help Tina find herself and clean up her mess with her daughter and Bette – Of course I want to see the B& T reunion but as you are writing it if Tina gets healthy at this point that would be enough for me. Love love love your writing.

    10. I like this Helena and glad that she being a good friend to help Tina get help and get Bette and Tina reunion. Can’t wait to seee B&T meet again and that gonna be so cool. OK post soon please, thanks!

    11. Yes! Tina’s done the first right thing. Agreeing to go back to LA. Now it’s upto her to make the rigt decisions from there on. Glad that Helena’s being such a good friend. Great chapter Citygirl. Thanks!

    12. Oh I loved your & tiff’s Helena, we saw a glimpse of this Helena in S3. Hope to see this similar version of her in S4. B&T meeting will definitely dramatic and something i look forward to. Thank you!
