The Color Of Love Chapter 2

Bette: Tina, I have asked you tonight because I like you. I find you interesting. Does that make sense?

Tina: Considering weve met only twice and exchanged very little dialogue, no. But I guess I find you interesting as well. Actually I look at you as more of a mystery.

Bette raised her eyebrow to Tina signaling her to continue.

Tina: Im gonna need another glass of wine.

Bette happily poured them both another glass.

Tina: I dont know Miss Porter, but you seem to have this strange power over people and I am very curious to figure out what it is.

Bette could tell that the wine had loosened Tina up a bit and she liked what she saw.

Bette: I dont think I have any power Miss Kennard I just find that people like to think I do. They like to assume that because I am very up front with them, that I have hypnotized them. I guess its rare for a woman to know what she wants.

Tina: And what is it exactly that you want Bette?

Tina couldnt believe she even asked that question. After everything she heard about Bette she should be honored to be sitting here across the table from her. However, it appeared that Bette liked the more aggressive side of Tina.

Bette was smirking now. She said nothing.

    Tina: Well?

Bette: If I am brutally honest will you promise not to run away?

Tina took another large sip of wine.

    Tina: I promise.

Bette: Well, when I saw you at my gallery the other night you caught my eye. Not just because you are obviously gorgeous. First of all you were standing starring at MY favorite painting all night.

Tina: The dance? I loved that piece. I meant to ask you where it went, I noticed it wasnt at the gallery when I came by for my earring.

Bette: I guess we have veered off topic, but ok. I bought it.

    Tina: Sorry. Ok, please continue.

Bette: And yes I noticed you were with Eric, but I also couldnt help notice they way you looked at me.

Tina: And what way is that?

Bette: Much like the way you are looking at me now. Intense, hungry.
