The Chief and the intern – chapter 11

    11 – The “study group”

The next day Bette did get up early and got ready, ate breakfast and went down to the market.

“What do I need?” She says in a whisper to herself as she walks down the different isles.

She looks at her watch and sees that it’s 10 o’clock. ‘Tina must be awake now.’ Bette thinks.

She pick up her phone and dials Tina’s number.

    “Hello?” Tina answers tiredly.

“Oh I’m sorry, did I wake you?” Bette asks.

“Hi, yeah, but it’s okay. What time is it?” Tina asks.

    “It’s almost 10.” Bette says.

“Okay, I sat my alarm for 10, so it’s good. Nice to hear your voice this early on a Saturday.” Tina says.

    “Likewise.” Bette says and smiles.

    “So, what’s up?” Tina asks.

“Well, I’m down at the market, trying to figure out what to get, you know, snacks and food during the day.” Bette says. “What do you like? Or more importantly, what do you want?” Bette asks.

“Aha, hmmm let’s see. It’s Saturday, I always eat chocolate on Saturdays.” Tina says.

“Okay, what kind? I’m at the candy section now.” Bette says as she pushes the cart in front of her.

“It’s the milkchocolate. I think Melkesjokolade in Norwegian. It’s wrapped in yellow with some cows on it. That’s the best chocolate here, and a lot better than the ones we have home.” Tina says.

“Hmm, Maybe I need to try it out. Okay, I got it, what else?” Bette asks.

“Well, I’m a staying for dinner?” Tina asks.

“I sure hope so, maybe even till tomorrow? But that’s up to you. I have a guestroom, it’s yours if you want it.” Bette says.

“Thank you, I’ll think about it. Why don’t we take Wok for dinner, I’ll cook.” Tina says.

“Sure, what do I need then? I think I should buy a cookbook while I’m out.” Bette says and laughs.

“Yeah, that might be a good idea. But, you’ll need, chicken filet’s, pepper or paprika as they call it here. All the colours if they have. Squash, broccoli maybe, if you like, mushrooms. And rice, the Jasmin kind. And olive oil.” Tina says.

“Mmmhh… Bette says as she walks down the isles and picks out the different things Tina mentions.

    3. Lauren, That was delightful. I loved the way Nurse Tina came to Bette’s rescue. Perfect! There is a true air of love and acceptance between these gals. It is adorable. Thank you for this pleasure. Your Loyal Fan.

    4. I don’t think that Bette needs to be looking for love anymore, it is sitting at her dinner table. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
