“Bottom line Bette I’m leaving tomorrow for a week to Vancouver I don’t have a choice” Tina said as she walked to her bathroom for a couple of Tylenol and left Bette standing there in her living room.

Bette felt a mix of emotions rush through her she wanted to run to Tina and tell her it was going to be ok, hold her and tell he she was an idiot for acting like a jealous teenager, tell her how much she has missed her these last 3 days and how bad she wanted her, how just the sight of her made her wet with need.

 Bette saw the sadness in Tina’s eyes when she told she had to leave for so long, she saw the anger in those same eyes when she voiced her objection of Helena joining the trip, deep down she knew Tina didn’t have a choice regarding the trip.

Bette realized she was afraid, afraid of being without Tina for so long if 3 days of not seeing Tina made her moody what would a whole week do to her? It’s was true Bette was unsure of Helena, she saw the way Helena looked at Tina when she thought no one was looking, all the  late meetings she had to have with Tina. The subtle touches she would give Tina placing her hand on her lower back a pat on the hand, she trusted Tina, she didn’t trust Helena. Helena was very attractive what if Tina all of the sudden found she was attracted to Helena and decided to leave Bette.

Bette didn’t think she could handle if Tina left her. Tina had changed her life, Tina had made Bette’s life, better. Bette never felt more loved then when she was with Tina.  Love? Love, it’s just a word right?  Bette felt closed in she needed fresh air she couldn’t breathe she grabbed her bag and walked out the door to her car.

Tina walked back in to her living room expecting to find Bette but Bette was no longer there, Tina noticed Bette’s purse was gone, the bag from the planet still sat on the end table a Tina walked over picked up the bag containing the food and placed in the trash.

‘Maybe this trip will do us some good’ Tina spoke to herself

Tina felt tears threatening to spill and her headache was beginning to act up again, she looked at the clock ‘I can still take a small nap before I have to get up and pack’

Tina walked to her bedroom and fell on the bed within moments she was asleep.

Bette drove and drove before she knew it she was at the beach she really didn’t know how she had gotten there. She walked towards the sand took off her shoes and just sat there staring out onto the water in was late enough in the day to where the beach was not too crowded the last of the people were starting to make their way home.

‘What the fuck just happened?’ Why did I run? What am I afraid of?’

‘1 week, fuck!’

She thought back to Jodie she had given her heart to her completely only to have it broken, so many lies, I was stupid to have stayed with her for so long, to believe and forgive her time and time again for her infidelities.  I promised myself I would never give myself to anyone in that capacity ever.
